The people of Ukraine have every right to decide who is in their government and using the age-old tactic of blaming the US for the uprising is very worn out and doesn't hold water without proof. There is no major difference between where Russia stands and how it was before collapse of USSR.
Estonia was slightly better off than Russia and it is still slightly better.

Czech I would think were better than Estonia, cudos to Estona. Yet Bulgarian GDP/capita I believe was about on par with Russia and Ukraine before USSR collapse. Overall ,if you take even the best performers from former socialist camp all those GDP/capita are very close to each other and miles away from developed countries like France, UK, Germany. So calling them prosperous is a big exaggeration.
