Or you could visit my neighborhood and I'll gladly show you around.

I live in Newark, NJ. I don't think your neighborhood can beat that. My ex wife is black, I didn't pay attention to that anyway.

No need to label with a color police activities. Labels create more division.

All I know is human race.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

If you point a gun at an armed cop, you will die.
So use your head and don't do it.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Point a gun at anyone and there is a possibility that you will die. Deadly threat toward a person opens the door to deadly force in return.

I saw something on twitter that said the policeman who shot the guy was black also. I have no idea if that is true or not, so don't quote me on that. But if it is true, this story will be short lived or nearly non-existent in the media me thinks.

Ohhh I wouldn't be so sure there bud. Not only has the Michael Brown thing become Black vs. White, it is also cops vs. citizens (although I don't feel that way) It will get spun and twisted and contorted to whatever the mind controllers want it to be. It will be fun to follow none-the-less

Regardless of how these events are going down, it is escalating and I can't stand it anymore.

Almost everyday another incident, protest or flare up, us against them no matter who "us and them" really are and the overall mess our country is in, I'm having a hard time taking it all in anymore.

I can understand people wanting some kind of huge disaster or market crash to happen soon, anything to relieve this unending tension.

I don't want to be unaware of current events, I want to see it coming so I can react to it as best as I can.

I don't want to bury my head in the sand and ignore the world so I can find relief in my own fantasies.

But I need a break from all information sources, all of them, just to regain some composure.

I won't do it though, I won't stop watching the train wreak.

If you point a gun at police...

You may already be dead and the gun was never your own. Don't
rule out a plant in this shooting story.

ABC local NY affiliate was running this story big time, then National
didn't cover it at all. Either it turned out that the kid really did
it, MSM really believed the cop story, or PTB decided to not spoil
Christmas.

Cops are acting like the people are at war with them. Its an
undeclared but defacto war.

Keep in mind that even gangs aren't at war with the police. They are
outgunned and mostly avoid confrontation. If there were really a
war with police, there would be more dead cops.
As it is, police work is still safer than truck driving in spite of a 50%
spike in police deaths this year. Some forces seem to be inciting
this, if it becomes a hot war, we will all lose. Civil rights get suspended
in wars.

You made some good points. The factual details will be important becuase so many people already have a bias in any of these situations. I hope people can accept reality if it turns out the person did use a gun in this incident.

Can't have it both ways - unarmed and armed and the police are wrong.

I went to a church service there a couple months back. It looked like a war zone in the middle east. There was razor wire fencing around some of the buildings. And immediately after the church service (about 4pm), a cop who was attending the service saw our out of state plates and advised us to get out of the area because it wasn't safe for white people and there were parts of that town that even the armed cops won't go into after dark.

People complain about the cops being 'militarized'. Well ... some neighborhoods really are lawless war zones.

There are many issues here and it is growing worse.

The first issue is that we ask the police to do a job. We hire the people who hire and run the police department. We hire the DA, who in turn hires his people. Chances are that when it is a local election, many of the same people who are rioting, tend either to vote a party line or not show up at all, or put forth a person to run and get into office.

The second issue is that many people tend to think it is ok to break the law. Resisting arrest is against the law, it gets one hurt and more charges added onto what they are being restrained for.

And then there is the likes of Sharpton and Jackson, that aggitate and stir up the pot, refusing to let old wounds heal.

While there have been problems in the past, that we can not deny, the past is gone, done and there is nothing we can do. Ultimately, those in the African American Community, if they want change, it has to start in the home. Things like breaking the law, just is not going to lead to success. At one time the term racist was something that made all pause, now it is thrown around so much, who knows anymore who or what is racist these days. It is not fair to hold those today accountable for things like slavery, as we were not there at the time frame. Let it go. Time to admit the truth about ourselves, and our families. Stop looking at them as angles, and maybe admit that they were not so good or innocent.

That is what is going to happen. The police are going to state, and if they have the video footage, from the store or dash cam or body cam, that shows such, the kid had a gun and pointed at the officers, who then drew and fired at the child killing him.

The parents are going to claim he was a good kid, and did not have a gun. Who are we to believe? The parent who does not want to see anything wrong with their child, or the police who are suppose to uphold law and order? Right now I would think that with everything that went on, the police are being extra cautious and taking a step back. But it is unrealistic to not expect them to fire a weapon, if a weapon is being pointed at them.

Well, this will give all the drama queens and attention wh***s a reason to protest some more. But don't worry, business will go on in St. Louis, not one shift of work will be missed, because these people don't work for the most part. They loot.

but the planted gun thing will not fly. the whole thing was caught on the store's surveilance cameras. they probably have it from at least two angles.

Video just in actually..

Sorta grainy but looks just like what the cops said. It's not very long, but it all happens at the end. The shooting isn't shown, but you can see a man pull what looks like a gun and point it at the cops just as the video ends.

Edit: This video is from the St. Louis County Police Youtube channel.

You are telling it like it is. I sometimes think the police go overboard with some of their actions but I do understand the situation. Sometimes the most reasonable and peaceful appearing situation turns deadly and I can't fault police for trying to be watchful and prepared. Maybe the unprepared contribute the most to the problems.

While I agree, this is not how this is going to go and we all know it.
The public no longer trusts the police. Brown didn't have a gun, Rice didn't have a gun, Garner didn't have a gun... plenty of unarmed black men have been shot dead by police over reacting to a situation, escalating events that do not need to be escalated, causing violence against members of the public.

I can bet that there are a lot of people in Ferguson right now who do not believe for one second that the young man killed actually had a gun. And why should they believe the police story when there is so much evidence to suggest that the police there are as corrupt as they come and incapable of serving the public with any trust or credibility?

However you look at this, the complete lack of trust in policing has not been fixed, it has been continuously eroded by the failures of those in uniform. No one should be surprised when the people there have absolutely no trust in a police force that has been proven to be entirely untrustworthy.

If they have it on video then that's a good thing. There needs to be evidence here otherwise the public has reason to be suspicious. Long gone are the days when you could actually just trust the word of a police officer - if that day ever existed.

It does. Real tough guy, gangsters. Gonna rob people at gunpoint with the child present. Even the mob had more class than to do that.
