Posted this on facebook and decided to post here as well. I think discussion would be slightly more interesting here. Love ya, ATS!

I'm kinda torn on the fact Sony decided to release that "Interview'' film where they assassinate a pseudo Kim Il Un. Stepping outside the box to look down at this planet as a whole, I'm briefly reminded on how some humans on some blocks of land find it funny and (yes, I agree) fully in their rights to show the movie, while some humans on another section of land find it horrific due to it showing an assassination of the person in charge of that area of land (where I agree as well). Mulling over how some humans on one major plot of land enjoy engaging in war more than any other plot of lands only drives me to a conclusion that 'it is fine for this to be done, but war shall be had if there is a ''revenge'' movie made showing the assassination of such current human in charge'.

Do you know how hard it is to write without naming Country or People names? In trying to stay equal and non name pointing, I sound like a robot.
I'm sure I made some kinda point in my garbled brain stew. I think it's been simmering on the stove too long, but that's fine because it's my brain and my stew. All and all, I can see a 'It's fine for some to do and awesome, but if the others do it, they shall pay dearly' coming from this on one, both or many sides.

Poking a barely sleeping lion (and many lions inhabit this great planet; many lions capable of bad bad bad things) isn't too wise. I tend to ponder if some humans desire a war to end all wars and most of humanity.

I'm too empathetic some times. But I hold to my thoughts. I'm sure most will not agree, but it's fine. We all have opinions, after all. Respect and enjoy the diversity of that. I'm also not saying one side is right and the other is wrong. Oh no. For this, ALL sides are right and wrong. Right in being upset, right in putting out expression, wrong for whatever potential crap can come from this.

Ever hear the tale about the weak, little, quiet child/teen/adult who was bullied so much that they finally snapped and either beat the snot out of the bullies or went and grabbed some kind of weapon, be it a chair, a shoe, a school hall locker door, a rock, a knife, a pen, or sadly a gun..... I just have this thought twinkling about my brain stew and it's an ingredient I don't wish to ingest or digest. Yeah, humans have the right to add expression to the meal of life, but not when it's definitely going to give every human some format of indigestion.

Sony has confirmed the movie is back on!! well sorta..

UPDATED WITH SONY’S STATEMENT: Sony Pictures is releasing its controversial movie The Interview in theaters after all on Christmas Day — likely in fewer than 100 indie theaters. We’re told the turnaround came after a conference call with Sony distribution execs that just ended. Several of the smaller chains are beginning to unveil the news via social media. “We just got the call,” said Brock Bagby, director of programming at KC-based B&B Theatres, which has 408 screens in eight states. “Our film buyers did. Sony will be playing it on VOD and letting anyone play it who wants it.”

Yeah, I'd seen that and my brain decided to spew out that brain stew.

we'll find out if them releasing it was wise or not. Time will tell.

Time always has this tendency to tell.

Hello,
well said...
all this is like watching my 4 yr Olde and my 7 yr Olde argue over a favorite toy. Only to loose interest once the fight is over.
I tend to think humans have a lot of growing up to do.

Ha yeah I figured I would just post a linky for you since after reading your thread I had to go and check myself.

BTW your thread reminded me of going to college with middle eastern students, even had one as a roommate. They just don't understand humor.. it's not part of the culture. So while to some showing a depicted assassination of a leader might be insane, to many Americans it is just part of our culture. 1st amendment and all. Not to mention it's also a James Franco movie.. not to be taken seriously.

Also look at how we talk (and are completely legally able to do so) about our own US leaders? Obummer the Nigerian communist satan worshipper, or whatever the flavor of the week is. It's just how we do.

Oh and I'm definitely going to watch The Interview!

It truly is how us American's are, and yeah, we mostly 'get' how Franco and his humor is xD

But then I think about how other places may not 'get' that it's humor and could very easily take it as some kind of threat, you know? THAT is what pushes my worry button.

It IS kinda like ''we'' are poking the lion and then will 'feel outraged' if an attack is made on us. Not saying that is likely to happen BUT then again, anything IS possible and is a potential. I just find it head shaking and worrysome. I won't lose sleep over it right now, and I honestly hope I never lose sleep (or worse, my and hoards others' lives over it).

I think as long as we (general 'we') don't learn to accept and respect all the differing opinions and ways of life as a 100% whole, and as long as 'war is the answer', we will never grow up. And that saddens me.

If our free speech isn't absolutely free then it's not free at all.

Even if Sony hadn't pulled the movie due to the threats I would have still gone and seen it, bomb threats and all.

Our rights can only be stripped from us if we are not exercising them to their fullest.

Perhaps it will push some buttons, but that is our right. I mean sh*t 4/5 ladiest on The View push my buttons whenever they open their mouths, but it is their right to say as they wish and I have to respect that.

How is it we are supposed to respect all the different opinions and ways of life and still have our constitution? We absolutely cannot. Our constitution is there to allow us OUR way of life. I for one don't wanna accept communism, sharia law, gun control, genocide, dictatorships, etc. Those are many of the 'opinions' we would be forced to 'accept' on our own soil if we were to 'grow up'.

Perhaps growing up is realizing that humans by nature have conflicting opinions, are violent, and strive to be the best (power, money, authority), and giving in to demands so feelings don't get hurt is in reality surrender to their ideology.. SLAVERY.

It's funny how this was announced the same day NK's internet went down. A marginal amount of citizens there even have a computer, and less the internet, which is all edited by the government. But supposedly from the article I read, a link from DRUDGE was that NK's internet is basically from the 90's and childlishly easy to hack, tear down, infilrtrate, etc. According to the article that is. So NK may not even know that Sony is releasing the movie.

That's the point. Forgive me if I don't sound ''right''. I'm dealing with newly diagnosed RA (rheumatoid arthritis) and it makes putting thoughts into words hard at times due to ridiculous brain fog amongst other things
That said, I agree. I do agree with what you said.

I do have to add my own two pennies and go on to say that respecting an opinion or way of life doesn't mean giving up who and what we (again, general world 'we') stand for. It just means to not go so .... how to word it.... fisticuffs over others way of life. Kinda like agreeing to disagree? Let the neighbor water their lawn how they wish to.

Gosh I wish I had my thought process of just 2 months ago. This gives me a sad that I can't articulate my thoughts as clear as I once used to, lol.

True,
tolerance of another's ideals or culture would go a long way. I'm not sure I would "accept" a differing opinion with out conclusive proof mine was wrong. We should all be allowed our opinion and a voice to share them.

It just occurred to me...what if this whole mess was purposely orchestrated as a huge publicity stunt to promote (The Interview) so many pockets will be lined with lots of money.

I know...the above theory is kinda out there...but in this crazy world...it could be.

Precisely. Just because we are able to respect anothers opinion, be it individual, a group or even a nation, it doesn't mean WE personally (individual, group, nation) have to adopt it and make it our own.

It's all about respect.
I believe every single opinion is correct (facts aside on this one, since fact IS an entirely different thing from opinion) because one would not hold their own opinion if they did not believe in it. However, opinions can change to any degree, folks can fence sit, or fence hop; it's the joys of being human.
