England defeating Germany in WW2 is really a matter of personal opinion, things could've gone very different if the Russians didn't annihilate Hitler in the east. Same goes for Italy. That's also not adding in the events of D-Day.

As for your colors, do they also apply to the Russian flag as well as several Balkan nation flags?

The British have a very impressive history to subjugating anyone and everyone to their whim through war across the entire world. They have done it for hundreds and hundreds of years now! It's a very proud history in England. Oddly much of the rest of the world finds this history shameful and not something to be celebrated.

The achievements you celebrate speak more about you than your words.

I think your statement here about Britain winning every war she has fought needs to simmer down some.

Harold lost at Hastings and William The Conqueror prevailed. The American War of Independence was certainly won by what became the U.S.A. Britain did not win.

Also, Britain was part of the allied attack on the western front and Russia on the eastern front. Together they were victorious against the Nazis.

Britain lost the colonies in a similar fashion on many occasions to what happened in America; India for instance.

That being said Britain has got an amazing record of victory in conflict. For a small Island it is an impressive history.

No comment on the morality of it all. Just sticking to the facts. Rule Britannia!!!

Al Murray is a British stand up comedian, by the way... We call him 'The Pub Landlord".

Great guy, passionate about his country.

"Brits" may have occupied portions of Afghanistan (three times) but they never subjugated it.

"When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's Plains,

And the women come out to hack up your remains,

Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,

And go to your Gawd like a soldier." --Rudyard Kipling

British Inavsions of Afghanistan, Wiki

ETA: I see ex pat beat me to it.

To others: Yah, the guys a comedian. This is meant to be a joke… So is the term "Great" Britain. And the "Empire" state building.

Have we defeated Afghanistan yet?, Britains been at that for over 200 years with not much luck.

In recent times I can think of Yemen, Britian was forced out of there, Egypt too, Palestine. India, we lost that. To be honest there as many defeats as there is victories.

Ha ha, he's a comedian who developed this character called 'The pub Landlord'.

It's an exaggerated character based on little Englanders and everything he says is said with tongue firmly in cheek.

You may think the character is an idiot, but believe me Al Murray is far from being an idiot.

the bit he states about the 1812 war is entirely true lol

not every war, but every country we have been at war with we have defeated at some point.

i only posted it to see what others would think about it.

debunk any of what he says in the video, just because he is a comedian doesnt mean he isnt right.

oh and the opium.

its a war on "terror", not the country itself.

if we really wish to defeat terror then our governments should turn the guns on themselves.

In India Britain is still most respected for the infrastructure she brought. The Indian people have developed that infrastructure. You see that in many places in India.

The smallest member is Nauru, with only 13,000 inhabitants.

The Commonwealth also includes the world's driest and most sparsely populated country: Namibia."

Like I said, very impressive for a small Island. Membership of the Commonwealth is entirely voluntary. All these states like the idea. Strange, huh!

There are many benefits in terms of trade and state partnership. I am actually quite proud of this.

yes, me too why do u think canad fought american "liberators" so hard after 1812 lol

the americans believed all they would have to do is march thru canda and they would be greeted as heroes.

far from it.

i dont see many canadians flockin en masse to the usa, probably because we have more freedom.

Commonwealth of Nations

With an estimated population of 2.328 billion, near a third of the world population, the Commonwealth in 2014 produced a nominal gross domestic product (GDP) of $10.450 trillion, representing 17% of the world GDP when measured in purchasing power parity (PPP) and 14% of the Gross world product when measured nominally.

I don't see many Americans flocking to Canada en masse either. Canada still has its war on drugs. So it is just as restrictive freedomwise as America is. And with Holder in office, that won't change anytime soon.
