I saw the sky today around 11.30 amt this morning at Norton on tees in the north east of England I took a picture on my mobile phone and of course the picture does not do what I saw justice I have never seen such a band of vivid colours in the local sky everever I think its probably a sun dog but wondered what the good people of ats think one pic is as took the other i have enhanced to try and show what i saw it lasted at least ten minutes
.

Looks like a rainbow caused by cloud scattering and the right angle of light from the sun set.

Seem them hundreds of times.

Your pictures reminded me of this: cloud iridiscence


Iridescent clouds are a diffraction phenomenon caused by small water droplets or small ice crystals individually scattering light. Larger ice crystals produce halos.

When you adjust the brightness and contrast you can see one of those Triangle UFO things right in the middle.

They put that there to distract you from the chemtrails.
No, seriously, it is a beautiful photo.
It would make a good reference for an impressionist/luminist painting.
I have seen these before.

It looks like a normal natural (beautiful) phenomena..but now that you pointed that out, I can see it on the original

Also interesting is the u shaped flight cloud around it..
