At this time of year many people have too much time on their hands and are full of '"Christmas cheer" and I am no exception. But instead of regaling
you with the tried and true Christmas carol, I thought that I would compose my own carol that could unite people despite their culture or creed.
Without further ado, I present the 'ode to Star Wars.'
I've been around the block and I've seen things you've never seen
I've stomped a Wampa on Hoth and surfed the dunes on Tatooine
I've met Despots on Bespin and married a Hutt, and I've even saw Yoda's withered old butt
But it's not the same without you and I wish that you would...
Join me in a time long gone in a galaxy far way
Where the Rancors stalk, the robots talk, and the Ewoks come to play
Watch a tentacled spectacle strut her stuff until we say we've seen enough
And then we will gladly begin the saga again.
Vader's a hater and Leia's a player, we know this to be true
And Jar Jar should just pack his bags and head back to Naboo
Never pick a fight with a dug, or land your ship in an asteroid slug
But it's not the same without you and I wish that you would...everybody!
Join me in a time long gone in a galaxy far away
Where Han shot first and made a dash to that fabled docking bay
Mud hole, slimy my home may be-but it's a quagmire paradise to me
May the force be with us all.
And so ends the 'ode to Star Wars'. You'll either laugh or cringe but for many people this is a difficult time of year and if I can make people laugh
with me or at me then maybe they can forget their troubles for a little while.
I'll leave you with a quote from Yoda
"Into exile, I must go."
