Why did Obama help Alan Gross, not Tahmooressi?

The question begs to have a answer. A possible answer to my question is "SGT Tahmooressi is military". Greta had a fox news video of the same question. video.foxnews.com...=show-clips

Because there is no need to subjugate Mexico, we already own it.

Just like the only "atrocities" reportedly occurring in the Middle East and elsewhere are the ones perpetrated by the enemies of this State.

Increasingly, there is but one narrative coming from the media and Washington these days.

Gross wasn't breaking any laws when he became a prisoner although they claimed he was spying. Tahmooressi was stupid enough to cross the border with three loaded guns which is a violation of Mexican law. Looks like FOX is just trying to start more trouble by making their usual ignorant comparisons.

Spy swap. They can dress it up any way they like, but that's what it seems to come down to.

Because Fox is a biased shill organization. But if you like them, I suppose you can read their article on it:
Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi freed from Mexican jail, returns to US

After 214 days in a Mexican prison, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi returned home to Florida Saturday, having been freed Friday night after a strong diplomatic push appeared to help convince a judge to release the former Marine on humanitarian grounds.

You might note there is quite a difference between how long each had been detained - Gross was jailed in Cuba for 5 years. This Sgt. was in jail for 7 months. Like Gross, Tahmooressi was also freed after diplomacy.

You might also note that he went there with weapons, which is why he was detained:

His release comes after a lengthy, closed trial and a Congressional hearing in September highly critical of Obama Administration efforts to secure his release and Mexico’s refusal to let him go. Tahmooressi said he made an innocent mistake the evening he crossed into Tijuana with three weapons in his truck on March 31.

If you're curious about how that happened, Greta did do an article on that:
I see how the US Marine ended up in Mexico accidentally – I went to the scene and drove it myself and also walked it
They should probably have a U-turn-without-entering option there. Don't know why they do not.

Of course, they can't help but put political spin into things. You'll notice that above and also here:

While his defense rested its case several weeks ago, Tahmooressi’s release came only after a strong diplomatic push from former Gov. Bill Richardson of New Mexico and Reps. Ed Royce (R-CA) and Matt Salmon (R-AZ). Speaking by phone on his way to board a plane with Tahmooressi, Richardson said the trio, along with talk show host Montel Williams, met with Mexico’s Attorney General and Ambassador to the US, advocating for his liberation.

They couldn't help mentioning former-congressman, former-ambassador, former-governor, former-Secretary of Energy Richardson but they aren't going to highlight that he's a Democrat like they do highlighting the congressmen as Republicans. You could argue that since he isn't sitting in the government there is no need, but eh.

So you agree that anybody that violates our border laws should be arrested?
