I am there with you, a company doesn't achieve this much power and control without the right backing. Is beyond creepy.

Perhaps in the beginning along with many other early advertising and search engines in the net they were just entrepreneurs, but something change in the last three year or so they have eaten up the competition.

Perhaps some government help?

These latest DDOS attacks and the AdSense fallout are an odd coincidence.
>

They ARE a coincidence. It's as simple that almost EVERY weekend there is some script-kiddies DDoSing parts of the internet, no reason for a conspiracy here. But of course it becomes a major issue if a webmaster is already suffering from revenue loss (because they got booted from Adsense etc.)...and now must invest into measures to protect their site against DDoS which is added expenses.

Also a target of these latest DDOSing were several major online poker rooms and casinos. Amaya's(the group who just bought pokerstars) office in Canada was raided.

Coincidence yes, but very interesting.

I have mentioned it in some of my older threads and might do a new one connecting a lot of dots - but one thing to consider is that some years back a program called InfraGard that essentially made private corporations equal to Federal law enforcement agencies was created - a partnership between big business and the FBI.

Some tidbits here

What we could be watching is a Corporate sponsored cyberwar with government agencies acting as contractors - rather than the usual paradigm of it being the other way around.

I will help this site, as it has helped me (very much indeed). By coming here (when I can), by contributing (when I should), by funding (if and when circumstances allow), by word of mouth (always) and by reading, above all reading that which is hidden from those of us who may not have the wherewithal to find out by ourselves, by those who wish to hide things from us. The days of insecurity are upon us, who doesn't want a source of equilibrium in its purest sense, with both the craziness and sanity inherent in the human condition?

As many members know by now, we've suffered some financial losses as the result of several sustained Distributed Denial of Service attacks (DDoS). These attacks have been at levels well beyond automated mitigation available from our hosting provider, and very expensive to defend. As a result, we've been forced to obtain a short-term loan to cover operations and remain viable.

A conspiracy in itself, I hope you didn't buy into more bandwidth. Anyway, here goes.

At this very moment, I can't contribute because I am short
on cash. But I can't read this thread and then comply with " don't contribute "
and then just walk away feeling unobligated either. Not when I have
a chance to show, my appreciation for this site is exactly as I say. Anyway
I just got back to work recently and that's why I can't do something right now.
Plus christmas. But the week after christmas, I'll have some slack and I WILL ANTE UP.
ATS is worth it, so I'll be looking forward to it.

By the way, does one HAVE TO make a paypal account to help, or is there a direct debit option? I looked at the donation page and saw the second option led to a "create a paypal account"
Appreciate any information.
