How did this happen?

Aren't firearms illegal in Australia?????

Sorry, just a bit confused here..........

Yes, banning firearms obviously prevents criminals from getting them.

My thoughts and prayers with those taken hostage and their families.

It seems to be that there is only one person involved, since the second gunman has not been confirmed, which makes me think that this person is just a random nut/wannabe jihadist, rather than an organised ISIL operation.

If he was officially apart of ISIL, you would think that they could of at least provided him with the proper propaganda.

I'm at least trying
Perhaps if you'd care to read my introduction you may have an idea of where I come from

In a nut shell I joined up pre 9/11
Then found myself spending 60% of my time on operations in the ME and elsewhere and have something of a different perspective due to my experiences and operations

That's the second time you've said that...
Care to back it up with a source...
& not one that links back to the Christian Post...

Good luck, you won't find one.

Edit: You know what, let's not derail the thread with nonsense.

"They say if anyone don't [sic] become like Muslim, we['re] going to kill them, each one, from baby to women to old man," he said. "We don't have anything here," one woman told CBN News.

That ISIS was shooting the kids and people, and they were laying them on the ground and they bring tractors that they walk [drive] over them in front of their families," she said. "They take women out of their houses so if a family had three daughters, they would take one.

Terrific. I was in before 9/11 too. Spent a while in. I guarantee you did not see anything more or worse than I did. And guess what dude? I think cutting 3 year olds in half is wrong no matter who does it, and I don't defend anybody for doing it, regardless of who they are or what flag they fly.

How's that for perspective?

Can we please keep to the topic at hand instead of turning this into a political/conspiratorial bitch fest? I'm trying to get updates on the hostage situation and I don't want to weed through 6 pages of bickering to get each new piece of information.

Take the arguments to another thread.

Are you trying to be funny? This not the time or place for your "updates".

Unsure if it was mentioned yet, but Aussie news says the guy stopped nearby with the handgun referenced a few pages ago didn't have anything to do with the hostage situation. Wrong place, wrong time thing for him, I guess. Here in the live updates:

Anyone confirm reports someone walked into a hospital and dropped off a suspicious package?

So what do we know?

2 hostage takers confirmed by people that escaped Cafe

13 hostages or more

Reports that one of the men may be wearing a backpack and suicide vest

Hostages being held in 2 different groups

Only military and police vehicles allowed in airspace

Threats of other targets in Sydney

They've made demands on the radio to speak with PM

CEO of Lindt has apparently said between 40 and 50 hostages

The flag is a Shahadah

That all seem right so far? I just found out about this and want to make sure I'm up to date.

It's a Lindt Chocolate shop. Lindt have refused to go halal, and therefore they apparently became a target. It seems terrorists are angry because they can't eat our chocolate.
