I think, like man, he's smokin' some really good ganja.

Sarcasm aside, there's just too many problems (scientific and otherwise) with the scenario. Many people like it, but the plot and the science have too many holes in them to count.

"Sleeping agents" is an exciting notion, but there is a lot of research out there showing that people simply aren't influenced by subliminal/subtle/advertising triggers. Do you run out and buy EVERYTHING you see on tv, including products for the opposite sex and products for other ages (like "Depends -- Adult diapers")?

If your brain isn't able to resist these things, then you generally end up in a fairly heavy psychosis; a catatonia state where you can't even make any qualitative decisions to decide if one outcome (or purchase) is better than another. His concept of "sleeping agents" would be people who would be so sensitive that they couldn't even order from a McDonalds' menu.

Sometimes a movie is just a movie. In fact, most of the time it is.

They use cool names like Morpheus because if they used the code name FluffyPeach it wouldn't sound sinister and significant.
