Part of our working government a constitutional monarchy...it works (since 1215).
The last time we got rid of them we demanded them back after a few years.
They have no power and are just about tradition and history.
Most people in the UK don't mind them so...

Plus would anyone really want a president Cameron in the UK?.

I feel as well that it is ridiculous. She is a human being, only possessing an illusion of power, propped up by wealth.

Not even that, they are only leasing the crown and title from the Pope.

Royalty aside, I don't think it's a good idea to put your arm around anyone while you are pitting out... ewww.

I don't think the royal couple are bothered just the tabloids because they have to have some rubbish to cry about.
The royal couple are the ones dragging my royal family in this century.
No need to slag them off they are ours and we like them.

You may have forgot that Henry VIII buggered the Catholic Church off 500 years ago.

I agree, I think it is comical.

But they are so much fun to slag, low hanging fruit and all that.

Now we all have a laugh at our next King in line and I think he is going to be comedy gold when dear old Liz pops her clogs.
I give him 5 years before he steps aside.

Nothing like creating an image that you're above the common man. How do the Brits support and accept this elite and pompous display? They might as well declare themselves Gods if nobody is allowed to extend to them a friendly physical gesture! I know a lot of people in the US. who believe the rich and government officials don't deserve any kind of special treatment. I'm sure they would rather give them a middle finger extended gesture and still keep their distance.

Look we have had a working government called a constitutional monarchy for over 800 years....it works.
No one thinks them as gods we just like the history and pompus stuff the royals give us.
It looks to me that it is in fact your citizens who go mad for the royals more.
They are just like the UK's mascots really plus they make a ton of cash for our treasury.

I suppose that is what differentiates a civilised society.

What makes you think we do or don't 'accept' it? Me and all other native Brits I know couldn't care less what they do as long as they leave us alone, which they do.Our lives would be no different if they weren't there to how they are know they are here and doing their thing.

Also every now and then they have a wedding or such and it is a great excuse to have a day off work and get pissed while everyone gets teary eyed loving the fact we are Great British people
.
During the queens jubilee I was looking after a load of 90 year olds and boy even the ones with dementia knew what was going on and enjoyed the day.
