It wasn't shut down. That report is so full of holes it isn't even funny. Not least of which is that the system they claim did it is a short range self protection system.

you dont believe russia is ahead in radio-electronic warfare? i think it foolish for any single person to believe america vs russia would be a conventional war. and twice as foolish to believe their would be any winners.

No. They're actually slightly behind. They've closed the gap but they're still catching up. The difference right now is the type of processing used. The US uses a faster signal processing system, which makes a lot of difference in EW.

If Russia had a system capable of this, revealing it against a single low value target like a destroyer would be stupid. It would make a lot more sense, if you were going to reveal it, to do it against a high value target like a carrier group.

I have to agree with that, if Russia had such a thing it wouldn`t show it off in such a way.

But I`m still not convinced AEGIS will be effective enough and test results aren`t being bloated as has been done in the that past many times before.

I've seen some of the actual test reports. They're not bloated.

have you guys seen this? if this aegis is shutdown, then what?

I didn't see that yet so thanks for the heads up! Russia buzzed a Canadian warship in the same area months ago much closer actually, so it's not really a new thing in the Black Sea.

I'm waiting for a NATO ship to paint one of these pilots and radar lock him with a firing solution. Until that becomes the standard response followed by firing if no course deviation happens within seconds then Russia will keep doing it.

Russians aren't complex people really. If you aren't willing to get dirty then don't float around the Black Sea and act tough.

The Black Sea is international territory. They have every right to fly around ships there. As long as they don't shoot, they can fly wherever they want that isn't someone else's airspace.

In that case Russia would be completely nullified soon and US would go against Russia in the near future.

Seems Kremlin's main strategic policy is to hope that US does not go on offense. That is not happening. US will go on offense once it is sure that it can treat Russia like any other third world country that it has dealt with since the fall of the USSR. Seems Kremlin corruption and cleptocracy is eating Russia from inside.

Very true. To be honest US foreign policy isn't directed at Russia anymore. Russia is a regional power only and can be managed by the EU as America puts on the finishing development to Missile Defense. It's why Germany has been given the lead in handling the situation in Ukraine with slight prodding from US policy. The damage Russia does in Georgia, Ukraine and the other former Soviet Republics isn't much concern that a little aid money won't wash off.

China's economy and potential given it's size, population and government system is a million times more worrisome to US Decision makers. The Chinese are much more calculating and careful adversaries.

The Aegis system is at least five or six years away from even attempting an ICBM intercept, which means 10-15 before being ready at least. The principle is the same as they use now but it needs a new KV.

War ships don't let enemy war planes buzz them at 150 meters. It's a provocation that Russia is doing on purpose. In return they can be painted and shot down with justification after warnings. Russia wants the propaganda win it would get with US involvement against them. I think letting Russia know the Black Sea area can be denied to them is worth the negative publicity myself.

So how long before we have to worry about nukes flying around? Now we need to prep for nukes? It will be like the early sixties again. So does everyone need to build a root cellar/bunker in under their basement completely supplied to last a year?

Well, that should stimulate the economy, especially the masons.

As long as they don't do something considered to be an attack there's no way to stop them. Yes it's dangerous, but you can't stop it.

Of course. Russia is the picture of innocence in everything they do. Every time they've done something dangerous it's because they were provoked.

Actually Russia has been busy with legislation about internet services such as Facebook, Amazon and Google to name just a few who would be hit with new laws demanding information about Russian citizens is kept on servers on Russian soil. I have read there are plans to make one big Russian intranet and move away from the internet.

Russia knows from all the coloured revolutions which has happened in the past and also from the first attempt to remove Putin and friends.

Please take the time to actual read the Resolution, if war will break out in the future between The West and Russia this was the declaration..

No; only if Russia continues to violate international law will the situation escalate. This resolution does not authorize the use of military force.
