In Ferguson some people still know what it is to be a community.

This is a touching story and all I can say is That's whats up!
Good to read stuff like this coming out of an area dealing with the tensions they are dealing with right now.

"In Ferguson, black residents stand guard at white-owned store"

www.chicagotribune.com...=1

One, a six feet, eight-inch tall man named Derrick Jordan - “Stretch,” as friends call him - whisked an AR-15 assault rifle out from a pickup truck parked near the entrance. Jordan, 37, was one of four black Ferguson residents who spent Tuesday night planted in front of the store, pistols tucked into their waistbands, waiting to ward off looters or catch shoplifters. Jordan and the others guarding the gas station are all black. The station's owner is white. Ferguson has seen a stark demographic shift in recent decades, going from all white to mostly black. About two-thirds of the town's 21,000-strong population are black. By some accounts, the Brown shooting has heightened racial tensions in the city. But not at the gas station.

Good to see honorable and capable citizens protecting one another and the best interests of their community.

Race should be irrelevant.

Yes it should be irrelevant but so many people make it an issue, on ALL sides.
It is one of the many things we let separate us as a people of one race. The Human Race.

So everyone wants to have a say in Ferguson threads unless it's good news?

Shame on ATS.

S&F pal.

Silence often speaks louder than words I guess...

It is good to see such things happening during this tough time.

So it would seem.

Yet, we know that many who see truth fear loss. Remember that most do not speak.

We are the few that take the risk for the sake of all.
