Today bidding closed on the assets of the nation's 10th largest airline ATA. Southwest, AirTran and an unnamed major airline have bid on part of
all of ATA's assets. Winner to be announced in about a week. So who is next?
Looks to be US Airways. If they cannot get a judge to void the labor contract they are currently entered in to they will have to start liquidating
assets. How far will it go? Hard to say. But it doesn't look good.
Losing all or part of two of the top 10 carriers will have an impact on travel and travel prices.
More to come later.
