For as many posts and stars you have accumulated, I would have expected a much better intro for your thread. What are your thoughts?

Other than that, another sick religious based slaughter. Will it EVER stop?

Yeah hit the post button straight away then edit didn't work.

What are my thoughts?

Horrid mass murder, hardly mentioned by the tv media, just a snippet. If this was twenty years ago it would be big news. Now are we so acclimatised to daily jihadist murder that we hardly blink an eye and the media just brush over it as if we aren't going to be interested?

Unfortunately what you said in your above post has much truth... S^F Not politically correct to blame a particular religion.

Also anymore at ATS if you are the bearer of bad news (unless it is anti-U.S.) the flags seem to be sparse .

Kenya used to be a big tourist destination for camera safari's... This will not help the Kenyan tourist industry...

Because it isn't happening in the Western world so msm doesn't care, thats the truth whether they want too admit it or not if it happened in a western country it would be making top headlines right now.

I hate these people that think they can just brutally murder anyone that doesn't want to be a Muslim.

This has just made ninemsn news . Certainly not on the main page . My theory why is because these are poor terrorists and certainly not at this stage capable of threatening the west . Put one westerner on the bus and its worldwide news .

It's an incredibly selfish thing to do. Those murderers want bonus points with Allah, and because of that, these people die such deaths. It doesn't even matter that much for their sake that they're supposed to do this as the intention remains the same all the time, they want 28 people to die a gruesome death not because it is justified or absolutely necessary, but because they aim for heaven. Just like killing a bunch of school children or other innocent people... all those people have to die, just to get 1 dude his virgins.

It's so sad and disgusting. Such a waste of human lives. The lack of respect for life is chilling.

a more detailed report here

Gunmen separated out non-Muslims by asking passengers to read from the Koran, officials and witnesses said. Those who failed were then shot in the head.

Al-Shabab has carried out a series of attacks in Kenya since 2011.

A statement on a website linked to the Islamist group carried a statement saying the attack was carried out in retaliation for security raids on mosques in the coastal city of Mombasa earlier this week.

Kenya's interior ministry said on its Twitter feed that a camp belonging to the attackers had been destroyed by Kenyan military helicopters and jets, with "many killed".

'Point blank'
One of the passengers on the bus, Ahmed Mahat, told the BBC that there were more than 60 passengers on board when it was attacked, before dawn on Saturday, about 30km (19 miles) from Mandera town.

The driver tried to accelerate away, but the vehicle became stuck in mud caused by recent heavy rains, he said.

About 10 heavily armed men talking Somali ordered the passengers off the bus.

"When we got down, passengers were separated according to Somali and non-Somalis," Mr Mahat said.

"The non-Somalis were ordered to read some verses of the holy Koran, and those who failed to read were ordered to lie down. One by one they were shot in the head at point blank range."

www.bbc.com...

So brutal.
I'm trying to decide if the men who do this are mentally unwell.
Or do I just just blame religion and testosterone overdrive, which I blame for everything brutal throughout history.

Those poor people, minding their own business on a bus, the attack must have been terrifying to the core.

This is a class of people who are extremely ignorant, egocentric and devoid of their own humanity. They don't even know how their own religion condemns them to hell for murdering innocent people. There are many socially disenfranchised individuals who have apparently exceeded their moral parameters, having been seduced by the rolling rage against the machine sweeping the planet.

I think its interesting that many have yet to correlate how violence on every level of society has become increasingly prevalent and acceptable since September 11, 2001.

Eighteen jihadists killed 3,000 American citizens. In response the US government retaliated, killing and displacing millions of Iraqis and Afghans. The two front war was so brutal, it literally ignited latent jihadism world wide. Even in the civilized west. The ISIS threat came from that conflict and brutality. And it continues to increase.

Now it seems fitting for anyone religious, angry, hungry, unemployed, racially or politically disenfranchised, to simply use the gun to settle his grievance with governments and society.

If mass violence has become an infection spreading around the world, then it will eventually come to the west. The black American community is an endangered minority that is vulnerable to such conflagration due to moral and cultural chaos issues that have simmered since the end of slavery. The Michael Brown incident (one of many) has brought internal frustrations to bear. With all of the press coverage and police militarization feeding into the conspiracy of white-reign, America is on the verge of becoming a funeral pyre.

Sadly, western governments have used the violent methodology of terrorists to exploit entire populations, including their own people. War in the Middle East has had vile consequences, and extreme security measures in the homeland inevitably compromises individual freedoms while strengthening the authority of governments. And governments are using that authority to continue militarizing their agendas world wide. After what the US and Britain have done in the Middle East, we see how China and Russia have followed that example, stepping out of the boundaries of diplomacy to threaten both Europe and Southeast Asia.

Have you ever considered the extremism of elected governments that retaliate with disproportional force, militarizing the effects of violence on all levels of society?

I'm just curious, is there anyone else who sees the obvious slippery slope of our permissive morality we use to dismiss our own kind of terroristic behavior?
