Israeli soldiers protect settlers attacking Palestinian villagers

Videos released by the Yesh Din rights group appear to portray IDF soldiers standing among (in front of) Israeli settlers as they attack Palestinian villagers.

The IDF troops did nothing to stop Israeli settlers from attacking Palestinian villagers, according to videos released by the Yesh Din rights group, showing soldiers pointing guns at Palestinians while Israelis are throwing stones from behind their backs.

In the three amateur videos released by the Yesh Din human rights group, the IDF soldiers appear to be protecting the masked Jewish settlers from Yitzhar during their confrontation with Palestinians in the village of Urif in the West Bank on Tuesday.

The footage shows at least 5 armed IDF soldiers standing amongst the settlers and at times pointing guns at the Palestinians.

The IDF says that there was a confrontation between 200 Palestinians and 50 Israeli settlers before the arrival of their forces which intervened by firing gas canisters. Some further claim that rubber bullets, stun grenades and tear gas were used to disperse the crowds. The videos released cannot confirm this, although they do show IDF soldiers protecting alleged Israeli settlers as they attack Palestinians. It is also alleged that Israeli settlers attacked a Palestinian school in Urif.

Before anyone comments that the IDF was just doing its job, there is no reason to protect one side as they attack another. The IDF should, as would be expected of any authoritative force, perform an objective role and disperse both crowds before maintaining a presence to ensure that such actions do not occur again. They shouldn't take sides. But of course, we are talking about the IDF here...and we all know what to expect...

It's quite possible something bad did occur, or it's possible the videos are edited to create the story they want to portray.

I think it is obvious that something 'bad' did occur, considering there are people throwing rocks at another group of people. I don't think there is anything to suggest the video being edited, although i am not a video expert.

While i am not sure of the veracity of the entire story, what we do know is that there are IDF soldiers standing among people (alleged Israeli settlers) as they throw rocks at others. What we do know is that the IDF soldiers pointed their guns at entities off screen (presumably at Palestinians). What we do know is that an agent from a canister had seemed to be used, judging by one of the videos showing a cloud of white smoke. This in and of itself should be condemned, as the IDF should not be intervening on behalf of any one group (let alone standing by a group of people while allowing them to attack others). They should instead be dispersing all people from the area before maintaining a continued presence there so as to ensure that no further harm comes upon Palestinians or Israelis.

The Zionist bandwagon is losing passengers by the day...

A free Palestine is a growing goal of many citizens...
As many US patriots are wondering why their hard earned money is being spent to defend a country that threatens everybody with the Samson option of mutually assured destruction...

The great US citizens don't want to fund their own countries conflicts...
Let alone Israel's.



As you say Daas, this is to be expected from the IDF.

Unless the law has changed the IDF had no authority to enforce laws on the settlers. The settlers could do whatever they wanted to Palestinians and the IDF couldn't lift a finger to stop them but they were supposed to protect them from Palestinians. They don't even do anything when these cowards attack children.

If Israel were a Democracy like everyone claims they are then why aren't these masked cowards treated like terrorist? Why aren't their houses being torn down? Why aren't they being thrown into prison without trial?

You can find video after video of these "settlers" attacking Palestinians and Israel does nothing to stop it.

Very distressing. The soldiers are ordered to protect Israeli citizens by all means. These guys don't give a damn about the actions of the idiots behind them. From a soldier point of of view, if an Israeli citizen brakes the law, he should be dealt with by the police.
IMO, any body trowing rocks should get shot with a rubber bullet (preferably in the crotch).
The guy in the first video, shooting his gun three times, should have been shot down with live ammunition.

Actually there are quite a few terrorist settlers in Israeli prisons.
If the shin bet was not watching them, you would see settlers carry out a lot more terrorist attacks.

Both sides in this conflict do the same stuff to each other so it equals out.

just like Israel Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, many of these IDF soldiers are settlers themselves
