The annoying voice overs... Droning on...

The "catchy" Telephone numbers drilled into our Skulls... To remain there until the day we die...

I know.
I should throw away my T.V...
It's my only vice other than smoking, to be fair.

Thank Science for the volume/pause/fast forward button(s)!!!

I was watching some old 80's t.v. shows on my Beta Max VCR last night, and the commercials were enjoyable compared to now. There would only be 2 or 3 between segments of programming. Greed has made modern t.v. excruciating to watch.

I don't really pay much attention to the adverts themselves, its the amount of screen time they get that annoys me. I was watching 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' on tv the other week and had paused it to put the kids to bed, this put me 13 minutes behind. When the next set of adverts hit I fast forwarded through 8 minutes worth only to get hit by another set about 15 minutes later which gobbled up the remaining time I had in the kitty.

It's a rare occasion I bother with the tv and this is exactly the reason why, I just use Netflix or similar services and watch my movies with no interruptions. Plus, most the stuff they show on tv nowadays is garbage anyways.

In a nostalgic sense...
Or they were actually enjoyable.

Netflix and 1Channel on a media box with XBMC is all I need. I quit watching live television (save for hockey) due to commercials. I just can't take them anymore. Plus saving fifty bucks a month from the cable co is nice as well. Death to the idiot box!

Funnily enough that slipped my mind while in rant-mode.

Well, nostalgic. But they were simpler and to the point! And much shorter!

I love the mute button. I find commercials to be more bearable without sound.

What I hate most are the ones that yell or flash and flicker to get your attention. I've also noticed that, after 3 or 4 commercials, stations will inject a part of the theme song to make you think the show is coming back on then show 3 or 4 more commercials.

Dude I totally feel you! As soon as i get in my car in the morning to go to work, 9 times out of 10 there is a persons voice literally shouting at me to buy a car or incredible deals on something. Im so sick of buy buy buy eat eat eat crammed down my throat all the time. Kicked the cable to the curb and just Netflixed /liberated things from the internet ever since. Feels good.

It used to be about 2 minutes of commercials now it's more like 5 minutes! The cable and satellite companies charge us for their programming, yet were forced to watch commercials. The networks, cable and satellite companies are making money off these ads, but shouldn't the consumer be charging them money for allowing businesses to sell their products in the privacy of our homes?

Oooooh I feel your pain. I genuinely do.

As another user stated, the mute button does wonders.

But what really cooks my bacon is the commercials shown in movie theatres.
Listen jerks, I just paid a good amount of money to enjoy a movie on a gigantic screen, is it really that necessary to show me more and more commercials ? Am I really paying to watch commercial ?
Granted some movies does feel like gigantic commercial... But seriously.
I sometime wonder if the marketers are really pushing it, to see how far we can take it without rioting in fury.

Anyway I thought that a honest commercial would lighten the mood.
The invention of lying : honest coke commercial

I'm kind of sick of the erectile disfunction and medicine commercials and all the listed real side effects. Not to mention all the commercials trying to get people to file class action lawsuits. The reverse mortgage commercials seem to be overplayed too. Same with life insurance commercials.

Seems to be a high percentage of cable tv commercials and phone commercials too.

They are getting tiring. The only good commercials are around the time of the superbowl nowadays, I think the companies are using all their advertising funding then on a few commercials.

"Don't you DESERVE a break?"
"Haven't you EARNED this reward?"

blah blah blah, me me me. Entitled #s, come buy our product because you're worth it.

I've not watched TV since y2k was the big thing everyone was worried about- and I won't go back. Eliminating ads from my music while driving was harder- but doable. Internet keeps trying to sneak them in.
