Amazingly, although this appears to be a single jellyfish-like animal, it is in fact a roving colony made up of thousands of individual organisms, called zooids, each contributing to the whole.

This is why I'm scared of the ocean. As amazing as this looks, the thought of this and some big shark or some other unknown animal that is able to paralyze you just doesn't sit well when I think about swimming in the water.

Yes "Fred" would seem appropriate......somehow....
You could drown in your bathtub and who knows what miniscule denisons harbour there......?
The Ocean is the cradle of life...not death....

I saw a really good picture on here of a giant squid, I Think it was photographed on a drilling platform. It looked so eerie on the photos, like an underwater alien.
