At Last (poem)

At Last


No one will control me anymore,
I'm not the same person I was before.
I left all the negative people behind,
The ones who are, just simply, blind.

I found someone who I could love,
Who is everything I ever dreamed of.
Who takes me places I've never been,
He lets me express who I really am.

I no longer have to wear my mask,
I am free to be who I am at last.
I no longer have to mince my words,
I have a voice that I can let be heard.

I no longer have to wear my disguise,
Or listen to peoples poisonous lies.
I no longer have to get permission or ask,
Before I do or say things, I am free at last.

I see things from a different point of view,
The world has become glorious and new.
And though I am very innocent and naive,
I am not one of those you can deceive.

So you wear your mask, and just blend in,
Try to be the same as the other men.
I have someone different and unique,
Who has all the qualities that I seek.

I wish you well, nothing but the best,
And hope you find true happiness.
The kind that fills your mind and soul,
And helps you to finally become whole.
