The Turkish PM addressing a summit of Muslim leaders from Latin America made a wild claim about Columbus saw a mosque on Monday, October 21, 1492 CE while his ship was sailing near Gibara on the north-east coast of Cuba .

They echo the research of a small coterie of scholars who believe there's archaeological and documentary evidence of Muslims in pre-Columbian America. Erdogan is apparently citing the disputed work of Youssef Mroueh, an academic affiliated with the As-Sunnah Foundation of America.

In his diaries, Christopher Columbus referred to the presence of a mosque on top of a mountain in Cuba, A pre-Columbian ruin of an Islamic structure has yet to be discovered .

Some Muslim scholars aside, the same diary entry is widely understood as a metaphoric reference to a protuberance on the summit of a mountain that resembles a mosque's dome or minaret.

And he is claiming that he wants to build a mosque there on that hill" in Cuba if the authorities of the Caribbean nation grant the permit.
maybe he is going on a building spree after building a 1000 bed palace in Turkey for himself the monthly electricity bill alone - likely to be footed by the taxpayer - will reach £200,000 ($313,000).

I've never heard of Muslims discovering America but I wouldn't be shocked if it were true (which I doubt). Columbus was by no means whatsoever the first one to discover America, even ignoring the fact that one can't discover a place that's already been inhabited for ages.

FYI pizza wasn't invented by Italians either

Even if he was right St Columba got there first and of course then the Viking's then maybe a sailor who happened to be islamic then Columbus and of course there is supposed to be a Roman ship wreck in the Bay of Rio off the brazil coast,
www.nytimes.com...
,and there are supposed to be traces of pheonicians in Brazil (though this is likely a mix of missinterpretation and deliberate fraud)

Then of course you have to factor in the contamination of the mummies in egypt with Cocain residue that though it has since recieved an explanation is still a mystery as the explanation is only one plausible solution to the problem and to my knowledge no one has done a carbon dating on the cocain itself.

When Columbus reached Hispaniola as he called it, now Haiti he not only brought the native population the wonderful gift's of Small Pox and slavery but also observed Native masted vessels made of balsa wood that traded with land further west (south america mainland), of course there was a vast library or indeed two that may have explained and enlightened us but Bishop De Landa ordered all writings and codices as well as all native iconography destroyed and just like the great fire of alexandria but even more thorough the spanish inquisition swept through meso america destroying any form of writing or native culture they could get there hands on.
Read this. www.britannica.com...

So as far as my opinion of his turkish prime minister the word uneducated pratt comes to mind.

I don't know if this will stream outside Britain but here is a documentary about Cocain in the Egyptian mummies from 4OD.

It is such a huge subject that adherants to columbus are merely avoiding the question, it would indeed fill entire librarys if we had half the data.

But of course there was someone before all of them, the ancestor's of the native american's.

You know I do think the Olmec may have had an african connection, it is possible that there was even a great african civilization lost to history, there is a mountain that is cared into the form of a woman that many regard as asiatic but forgetting that the african nations have great diversity amongst themselves.
projectavalon.net...
Scroll down to the image of a mountain side and an immense but weathered profile of a woman.

Africa may have suffered an ancient epidemic that wiped entire cultures from history and there is no reason that one could not have existed on the west coast of africa or on one of the island's adjacent to it in the past.

When the portugese started to trade with india and china they used Cannon to destroy and loot entire country's along the African east coast who were already cultured though mostly islamic by that time and trading with india and china themselves, now whether it was copying the Arabs who had been doing it since the year of Zero or whether they merely decided to do it themselves the immense wealth that Lisbon once boasted was due in no small part to the fact they were the first Europeans to start the slave trade kidnapping tribal and otherwize Africans rather than paying the Arabs for them which they did at first and taking them as slave labour for there colonies en.wikipedia.org... .

The Olmec head's do look african to me though and people are simply people regardless.

O god you had to mention the year of Zero
the Muslims had a field day with that one and us Christians had to lose a year from the calendar .

The Olmecs are a weird one as are the Hopi Indians who claim they came to America after a disaster in the past

Ah but we got one over them in that the Arabic numberals are Really Sanskrit and from india.

Anyway the Zero and Decimal point actually go back to ancient mesopotamia and were known and used by the ninevan's, now why would a civilization based on grain as a currency and not gold or money need such complicated mathematics, all or most modern architects and most mechanical enineers still use ratio's and fraction's rather than linear numbers so why did such an ancient group of admittedly sophisticated farmers, the first schools, cuniform writing with was phonetic not heiroglyphic, the first professional standing army etc, need to have such highly developed mathematics unless of course as is pointed out on other threads they inherited that knowledge from someone and somewhere else.

The arab's actually propelled there science forward on the strength of two incidents that may have freed up knowledge that was previously dormant, the conquest of India (the modern Romany gypsys may be the descendants of the Raaj Phoot a hindu army who fought the Muslims for over twenty years penetrating deep into Islamic territory only to find when they tried to go back home that India had been conquered behind there back so making them exiles and outcasts) and the conquest of Constantinople which both exposed vast ancient librarys to there scholars, it was of course in the west where this dissemination of knowledge saw the flowering of thought we know of as the renaissance period but before that time the most culured and tollerant society in the word was actually Moorish spain, the Moors are of course north african berbers not Arab's though they were Islamic but under there rule chrisitan, jew and muslim all had relative freedom compared to the rest of the world at that time.

For the convenience of those who prefer to go straight to the source, here is Columbus's journal (a redacted version by his contemporary, the monk and social reformer Bartolemeo de las Casas). The text in question is in Entry #74 (the numbers are given beside each entry).

He said it was a hill that looked like a mosque, not that there was a mosque.

The Sumerians used Barley seeds to a great degree to figure out the world and space to a great degree but who taught them is a puzzle 10 800 seeds to a mana and modern barley is exactly the same weight and shape for thousands of years , I remember reading Alexander Thoms work on the megalithic yard decades ago and Lomas and Knights work

There is a belief is some radical Muslim circles that any land Muslims set foot on once is Muslim land and belongs to them forever giving them full rights to attempt to conquer it again. That's why you see all those maps released by ISIS showing the full extent of former Muslim reach as their intended new Caliphate.

Maybe they think if they can circulate the idea widely enough that Muslims discovered America first, then they can establish a precedent for a Muslim right to rule here, too.

While the evidence of which he is relying on is shaky, it is well known that the possibility of other civilisations already discovering the Americas before Columbus were high. Hell, the same can be said for many territories, including Australia. Just because there is no current physical evidence of something, doesn't mean it never existed. And while i do not subscribe to the theory at hand, one only needs to look at some records from the ancient peoples of North America, Australia etc, to see that they probably did come into contact with other civilisations.

From actual findings all the way to the South America, and the Hopi's having a tale of the annanuki and enki/enlil with only slight change of one of the names, along with other interesting finds, a very tall very old caucasian mummy found in US, the Okanagan Natives having the legend of the Wayward sun, and making their way from what sounds like Mu being destroyed in a crustal displacement (ie. the sun and stars moved from their normal paths), wherein they themselves were tall whites wielding magics, ie technologies.

The real history has been buried, and recreated. But in reality there were cycles of advanced probably space age (have a past life memory on mars a long long time ago, felt close to over a million year than 11 500 as one of the often mentioned cycles suggests). But many natives have histories that go back in many cycles, 20 000 PLUS years, that PLUS is big.

So in reality, there is no one group that can say they discovered N. America or S. America. World wide civilizations came and went many times. Some were space age. Different races.

Yes, they oddly though used base 12 mathematics which we still have as a legacy in our time base.
Of course many ancient king's had twelve fingers and twelve toes as well as being tall, it set a precedant that once there bloodlines had died out everyone had to bow to whoever was the king so he would always appear taller, another trick was to use tall hat's on royalty and nobility.
It is said that Xerxes was one of this lost bloodline and I often wonder if since I have no doubt as they were fully human twelve fingers or not maybe we all had twelve digit's at one time. it is not related only to the human race either as the scottish wildcat has 6 digits on each foot so I do discount alien there but just maybe not interdimensional crossover.

Still it would be interesting to see how much of that base twelve mathematics may have crossed to the mesoamerican cultures as that may also indicate cultural transfer at an earlier point in time but a lack of any evidence for it is not evidence against but would leave a piece of this jigsaw out of the equation.

Many of the ancient traditions such as the Indian relgions hold storys that claim kingdoms and empires fighting wars over half a million years ago so in my opinion that is a extremely valid point, as are the story's that are shared by many cultures such as the hopi flood myth, though modern anthropologists often try to explain that away as cultural contamination.

Here is a thought for you, what if that reincarnation memory was real but not in this reality but an alternate or parallel reality.

I remember a tale of an old lady who all her life remembered being a priestess of Isis in egypt, when she got to the temple though in ruins she knew it instantly, she knew her way around etc so maybe there is something in the belief after all.

The ancient Egyptians were called Red and hairy in the bible, the americans were often depicted as Red by the white settlers?.
