Hi, y'all!

I've been coming to ATS for a while now, but I've only ever lurked.
I've decided finally to take the plunge and sign up!

Some background on me:
In the past couple years I have studied folklore, ESP, and altered states of reality with a respected university professor and paranormal-investigator (who is unfortunately recently deceased), and while I've experienced unexplained things i remain cautiously skeptical about most paranormal phenomena.
I live in an area of the UK which is world renowned for its UFOs, crop circles, and Stonehenge.
I'm interested mainly in the paranormal and cryptozoology over government conspiracies, but a good cover-up is always interesting.
I don't really know what else to say about myself, so I guess I'll leave it at that!

I hope to see some cool things and have some interesting discussions while i'm here.
As a great man once said... ''I want to believe.''

I have experimented in the past with sensory deprivation tanks, various hallucinogenic drugs, sleep deprivation, hypnosis, meditation, lucid dreaming, and fasting.

I have attempted to guess cards from a basic 78 card Rider Waite tarot deck during these states (or just after in the case of sense dep, lucid dreaming and meditation) and, while there have been slight fluctuations in my accuracy, nothing could ever be attributed to anything more than just luck.
I've also had my brain waves monitored while in different states (specifically meditation, sleep deprivation, and fasting), which was interesting if nothing else. It mostly mirrored what was expected, which is roughly the same thing everyone else finds when doing these tests.
I've also played around in other ways, but what I've mentioned are the most 'scientific' experiments I've done.

Experiences of altered states do vary wildly, but I've never had a religious or paranormal experience that convinced me i was actually experiencing anything more than my own subconscious.
Although, and while i detest the term ''third eye'' so i wont use it, i do believe i have become more attuned with my own reality and sense of self.

Sensory deprivation specifically is a must for anyone who practices meditation or just wants to learn more about themselves.
It's meditation turned up to 11.

Great job with the experiments & meditation.

I will have to find a place for sensory deprivation meditation.

See you in the threads!!!
