bah! I can't watch this in work...:bnghd:

I guess I'll be the book freak and say I do wish they set it in old time England, I think that really added to the panic and atmosphere of the book and I don't know if that will translate in a contemporary, state-side telling.

Besides, we've pretty much already had that with Independence Day, so I don't see how it'd be much different. I could be wrong though, they could do something very different with it so I'll be there when it comes out either way...

I do worry about it being Spielberg though. Nobody does tension better than him when he's on top of his game, but he's shown too often lately that he'll drift into unnecessary sentimentality which just wrecks the atmosphere.

If there are any cute kids or pets in this flick I think I'll walk hehe.

For those of you who didn't know it was originally a book by HG Wells which takes place in the 1800's in Britain. Then there was a movie made in the 50's that took place in the 50's all over the world but specifically LA. Tom Cruise will be in it (not sure what role he plays) and he will be working with Steven Spielberg (the director obviously) again. The two of them have worked together in the sci-fi movie Minority Report which was pretty good in my opinion so I've got high hopes for this remake. The movie is slated to be realesed in theaters in the summer of 2005.
