He should change it to "Undocumented Petes".

Just sayin'

Is the "Stupidity Taco" on the menu? Should be because this needs some peppers.

"Mexican" is not a race.

"Illegal" is a designation, not a description or slur.

I know that some people use and/or perceive the words "Mexican" and "Illegal" as racist terms.

On a side note: outside of this one lady I know that likes to grandstand for LULAC, I don't know a single person (either American or "illegal") that would be offended here.

I see it as a gnomist's social commentary.

Offensive to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS? Wow. Who cares what the opinion of a person is when they are not even a citizen of the country they've invaded? If they want to have a say in America, or want to participate in our society at all, then they should come here LEGALLY.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

I don't find it offensive, but I'm not illegal or Mexican.... So there is that. Is it in good taste? Probably not. Hooters isn't either if we want to look at it that way. One can find offense in anything if they look hard enough. I do think the issue probably was raised by the PC crowd before the "offended audience" even took notice.

In saying that, I think people should be able to name their restaurant whatever they want. Let them be offensive (if it's legitimate offense) and watch the people vote with their money and their feet IMO. People who do things out of spite or are truly offensive usually don't succeed in the long run. We don't need a law telling this guy what he can call his establishment. We need those who are offended to quit patronizing it.

They have just given him a ton of free advertisement and if he's a successful businessman... He was counting on that and they gave him exactly what he wanted

Next people will stand up for the pirates and will be offended by Long John Silver's giving away stereotypical pirate hats with their crappy food.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

I was with you till you insulted Long John Silvers food, Greasy heart attack food for sure but OH SO TASTY!!!

The people who say that often are fine with using them for cheap labor. They just don't like their cheap labor having a say. It's not a sentiment restricted to illegals either

Hey look... I ate for a long time. I loved the chicken planks (I don't eat seafood at all from anywhere) but the last few times we went, it was the most foul thing I'd ever tasted. It tasted like they hadn't changed the grease out in a year. So yours might still be fantastic. Mine on the other hand... Will never see another penny from me lol.

Thanks SFD. This one is not touchy except for the touchy.
I also made it through all the posts thank you all. I have no
response to this for the sake of political correctness but
for an anecdote.

One of my oldest friends' wife was a server/cocktailette
at a multiphasic gastric abuse emporium called Carlos Murphy's.
This was over thirty years ago, and it was hoped although
there were quite a few stores in the chain-- it was a localized

Everybody back then was a little too afraid to start anything with
anybody in there, because nobody knew for sure where anyone
was from; or how much liquor or other spirits had been imbibed
before or during dinner to make for an uncontrollable outbreak of

The distinct although remote possibility of drinking also being the
sole source of nourishment also existed, and pushed the odds of a
real barstool-bender brawl onto the roulette wheel as well. I am
not short and better than 200; wrestled in high school anyway:
and I waited in the car both times when my friend went in to gather
her after her shift and I was along.
Yeah, one of those. And I played in a few too, not this one folks.

I asked her after she found another gig to offset her undergrad
psychology class' tuition, "So K _ _ _, why did you quit the weirdly
named pub and grub?"

"Ponder whether or not an alternate personality can dream. If I
stayed there much longer I'd remember a few: people might die."

She went on to become the staff psychologist for a good sized
city's police department until starting her own practice. I also
gave her a sheathed Spec Plus for a grad present, because you never know.

EDIT:: Memory refresh, her next was a pizza and pail called
"Lawrence of Oregano". I detected no ethnic slurs with that one either:
except the curry powder in the marinara sucked on Thursdays.
edit on 7-11-2014 by derfreebie because: What about "Green Card Red's" ?

The amount of concentrated fail all in one place is nigh overwhelming.

Let's just stop naming places at all and just give them all alpha-numerical designation codes, that way no one will get miffed. /sarcasm

R2d2 and c3po would have you in court !
Americans sometimes baffle me !

I doubt you'll offend felons. They have bigger things to worry about. You might offended friends and families of felons. You might offend people who don't think it's a joke that America has the highest incarceration rates of any nation in the world.

Better name for it. Considering how two party politics is pander for votes, divide and conquer I think "Future Democrats" should be added to the name.

That's what the non-racist, tolerant liberals think, apparently. TEHY are the ones bringing up that connotation, no one else.
