There's quite a bit of outrage going on in Australia about Tony Abbotts government giving its troops the stiff finger!

Imagine, your a trooper serving in Afghan, or wherever for that matter, risking your life because your government has directed you to fight in the middle east... then to thank you, they give you a 1.5% pay increase for the next few years, when the cost of living is going up at around 2.5% per year for their struggling families back home!

And why did the Australian government do this?

Thousands of Defence personnel serving in the Middle East will have their allowances cut, in a move that will save the federal budget millions of dollars.

that's right, to save the budget millions... after all this is a tight budget time and everyones going to feel the pain to get us out of debt!
keep in mind we need to scrape together every million we can to pay off our recent $12 Billion jet fighter purchase for our friends in the US!

Australia will buy 58 more F-35 Joint Strike Fighters (JSF) at a cost of more than $12 billion after the Federal Government gave the go ahead for the purchase yesterday.

If that's not enough, to make sure that the MP's dont feel the coming pain of a broken economy, the government gives them selves a $50,000 per year pay-rise, only a couple of years ago!
The Prime Minister, who earns $507,000 per year

smug prick, the balls of this guy to say Australia cant afford to pay its troops in combat after he's cashed himself and his buddies, up!

I agree im outraged over this crap too. They really just don't give a #. To pay cut the troops like this when they KNOW inflation is more than their pay raise. The state government of Queensland is like that too. The state government tried to pay their police service a 2% pay rise. The police union wanted 2.2%. The police service didn't get a pay rise for a year due to this pay dispute. Then once a year had passed the government agree to the 2.2% pay rise. Police service got screwed in the end. While all this is happening the state government gave themselves a 4% payrise. Total BS.
