Just to be clear, I am not from America and I have no allegiance to any political party.

I didn't say definition, I said interpretation.

Definitions are what we use to interpret.

It's just a figure of speech you genius.

Nice.

I would think that you would want the Republicans to emulate you.

Why on earth would you think that?

I don't want anyone to emulate me; I'm hard to get along with.

Second question: what does that have to do with this discussion in any way, shape, form or fashion?

Thanks for clarity! I am American and I wasn't affiliated with any political party until this last election.

At which point I decided that I'm for the one of the two bad options that respects science over belief.

I thought that(from your posts) you believe that Democrats are the better of the two sides of our rotten political system. Wouldn't you want everyone to be better?

About as much as fried chicken has to do with voting.

Definitions are what we use to interpret.

But they are not the same thing and as you just saw, one definition of a word can have multiple interpretations.

I favor those that favor consensus science. That only leaves me one option, politically.

Topic is about overreaction to a fried chicken comment as it relates to voting.

/shrug Can't help you there.

Yes.
You seem to understand what I said.
No interpreting needed.

I have never been stuck on the fried chicken comment. I have been troubled by something else that the FLOTUS said.

The "they have my permission" thingy?

Non-issue to me. Interview posed the question as "so it's all right if we ..." as if he (and by extension the people) were asking permission.

No.
If you have read my posts, you would see what my issue has really been. It has nothing to do with chicken... or permission.

“And that’s my message to voters, this isn’t about Barack, it’s not about person on that ballot– its about you. And for most of the people we are talking to, a Democratic ticket is the clear ticket that we should be voting on, regardless of who said what or did this– that shouldn’t even come into the equation.”

For those asking how fried chicken and watermelon became a racist slur, it was(is) a direct link to slavery.

Chickens were the only animal slaves were allowed to raise or own and hence their only source of protein with most meals. It was fried so it wouldn't spoil quickly in the heat of the fields. Small and compact, easy to transport.

Watermelon was the easiest, cheapest, most convenient and efficient way to hydrate said slaves while working in the fields. Also, if memory serves, other fruits were reserved for slave owners...peaches etc. for consumption and sale.

So these 2 items were were linked to slaves, as that is what you would see them eating/carrying the majority of the time. If you wanted to insult someone (either comparing them to a slave or reminding a slave he is a slave) this was the easiest visual( other then skin tone obviously) stereotype to grab at.

Another reply that isn´t relevant in the context of the post it is a response to.

But, you have made me curious. Why do you say that?

Your reply and question makes it obvious that you do not understand the statement.... yet you are certain that it isn't relevant.
Have fun with that.
