Does anybody think Ted Cruz will be the new Senate Finance Committee Chairman?

Republicans will take over all committees.

Is it Gulp !!

or Gasp ?

There's some smart Republicans out there but Paul Ryan or Ted Cruz on the finance committee is a definite gulp. Ted Cruz shouldn't even be allowed near his wallet much less anyone elses. The guy nearly crashed the worlds economy just because he wanted to make Obama look bad... as if he really needed to take such extreme measures to do that.

Dan Sullivan one for Senate here in AK; though the rural areas have not been counted yet. Democratic incumbent Mark Begich won't concede until the finals are all in.

I'm bothered, personally, a lot by this. Begich has done alright, but more so we're giving up someone with some actual power and veteran status for someone with virtually no political experience and zero Senatorial power.

Sullivan is a complete tool. I would have voted for a competent Republican who could offer cogent arguments and had an actual history of politics; but Sullivan is a blank, completely malleable tool put in place by money and the only thing he'll do "For Alaska" is whatever the GOP and Koch brothers allow him to, for them.

Bad news if you like science, women, helping your fellow man and think we're all equal. Arg.

Seriously with that demagoguery ?

As if.

Really is 'amazing' that some believe that.

Think the US government can save the planet through big government authoritarianism= science.

Helping your fellow man by using governemnt autoritarianism by robbing from complete strangers to 'help' complete strangers so they can go out, and buy more stuff made by corporations means they 'care' ! !

Apparently all them evil rich folks aren't equal since it's ok to take from them.

Women ?

Why because them evil righties think they should pay for their own birth control, and give that 'clump of cells' the same RIGHT to live as their parents had.

BAD day a someone says.

meh

Have you missed all the Republican candidates that are in the pocket of Big Oil, deny evolution, think the earth isn't warming (Not talking even about man made warming, just they deny that the climate is changing!), think the earth is 10,000 years old, talk about you can't get pregnant from rape, want to repeal Obamacare but have no alternative for the millions of americans that don't have healthcare...etc. It's not about all the things your talking about...just the basics.

For one concrete example...they guy (republican) that is in charge of the environmental committee is quoting bible verses as his argument against climate change....that's just climate change...not even talking about greenhouse gasses. And these are the fools you want in charge of our government??

And is there a point ?

I haven't missed all the Democrat candidates, that are in the pocket of BIG SOLAR, BIG PHARMA with their never ending crying about 'We must save' the planet' by letting the government take more power.

Power it already has.

I guess the left never listens to the snip they shovel.

Considering things like the clean air act, and the epa have been meaningless according to them.

just they deny that the climate is changing!),

No we don't,

The GD climate has been changing since before man ever got here, and long before the US government was a twinkle in mans eye.

It would be nice if the left could come up with a real argument instead of just recycling the same old crap.

Because the simple fact ?

The epa already exists.

Green legislation already exists.

They already have the power of taxation, and regulation which is what the left means by 'saving' the planet.

For one concrete example...they guy (republican) that is in charge of the environmental committee is quoting bible verses as his argument against climate change.

Better than just parroting what the left says and take it as 'gospel'.

LOL wow.

You do realize, don't you, that it was Republican presidents who signed the bills designed to make our air and water cleaner? It began with Ike in 1955 and was ramped up in 1970 when Nixon signed the Clean Air Act and then created the EPA.
You do realize it was Republicans who managed to get slavery abolished? You do realize it was Dems who fought desegregation in the deep South by using fire hoses and dogs to keep black students away from white schools?
I don't belong to either party, but some basic knowledge of history just makes all this whining about one party or the other look really, really silly.

I realize there are problems with Democrats. I'm not blind. Pelosi, Reid...those guys are scumbags...

But let's be real...both are in the pockets of big corporations..and sometimes you can't tell the difference...except in some of the small details.

Let's just take a few examples.

Sen Inhofe is now probably going to be in charge of a powerful environmental group, because of this election. And he's quoting bible vs to dispute climate change. Not science or hard data or whatever.. Bible Verses. That's a big problem.

My entire family voted Republican.

Not one of them knows a thing about anything relating to politics, world affairs, history, philosophy, or any other marker of an education.

They are very good at living day to day. Their skills are shopping, using Facebook, watching sports and reality shows, fashion, nutrition, etiquette.

I asked them if they knew anything about the races or candidates. None of them knew anything. My dad at least knew the two candidates for governor. Besides that they all just filled in the R boxes.

That's the state of most voters today. America is becoming a cesspool of hedonism and ignorance.

yeah so true.......

Look im not a Republican backer at all but its going to make it pretty hard for the Dems to keep up this shtick

Why Florida Really Changed Its Voting Rules

It’s common knowledge that Florida cut back on early voting in 2011 to reduce the turnout of blacks and other groups likely to vote for Democrats. But it’s refreshing to see that former top Republicans in the state are now saying so out loud.

In an interview with The Palm Beach Post published on Sunday, the former chairman of the Florida Republican Party said voter suppression was the sole reason for the change to the election rules. Jim Greer, the party chairman in from 2006 to 2010, said he went to several meetings during which Republican officials discussed the damage that early voting — which brought an unprecedented number of black voters to the polls in 2008 — had done to the party.

Me think it's a little bit more than shtick, mind you it's not just about Blacks the young are included but their move was meant to suppress blacks who they believe rightly or wrongly will always pick Dem and in this they are right for they offer no incentives for Blacks and others to change voting pattern,I think a viable 3rd party is needed but the Tea Party is not it they are just the militant wing of the Reps.

I wasn't aware that voter suppression was a problem in my state. Florida was a really close race for the governors seat. I think he won by 1.1% over Crist. The MM bill had a set of 58% but they set it up where it had to pass by 60% and they had some real bad propaganda against it that changed many peoples minds that was all paid for by billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson who has been trying to get more gambling opened up in florida. I am betting that Scott will now OK whatever he wants. I don't want to see my state go down the same road as Missisipi the stuff he wants can be pretty destructive to communities. I lived in Cocoa Beach for a while and just some of the things from cassino cruise lines was bad enough I dont expect Sheldons plans to be any better.

Hell we can already gamble at the dog tracks I play texas hold'em there at least once a month. I do pretty good but that involves knowing when to walk away and too many people don't, which is why I do pretty good there.

It's not just voter suppression but attempt at voter suppression over non existent voter fraud and in a close race all that is needed is to shave off a few points from your opponent after all a win is a win there is no prize for second place.but in all honesty the Dems including those in Florida could have done much better.

Oh please that is a real weak question even for you. Of course they are edited you can tell because they speed through a ton of his racist remarks and switch back and forth. I am sure if you ask those sites nicely they will send you unedited versions for you to review.

BTW can you name some interviews recently that haven't been edited?

If you are implying they were edited to not portray the context correctly then it makes me wonder why they fired the one guy and why the other guy didn't call foul. Both of them could have even taken the places to court over it.

Hmmm.

Well I talked to one of my friends today on the phone he was all bummed about the election and especially MM legalization then he admitted to me he didn't go vote.

I said: bro were friends and we will stay friends but if you didn't vote I honestly have no sympathy for you.

He said: well I didn't know who all the people were on the ballot so I didn't vote.

Me: I didn't either but I looked them up on the computer I know you have one as well and even if you didn't you don't have to vote on every issue or person just the ones you want.

Him: I didn't know you could do that.

Me: It says it right on the sample ballot they sent you.

Him: Oh I only glanced at it.

Me: Dude you're 36 years old don't you think its time to start being a bit more grown up.

Long story short, of course were still friends but politics we will not be talking about in the near future but maybe just maybe next time around we can.

It's apathy across the nation with voting thats the biggest problem our country is a joke when it comes to voter turnout I know because when I am traveling in other countries the subject has come up more than a few times. If people had to earn the right to vote here or if it was mandatory you would see a huge difference in politics IMO for the better.

And that's part of the problem your boy like many others didn't bother voted on issues they wanted so they have no right to complain. and even in a good year young Dems have better things to do other than voting.
