Legendary clarinettist Mr Acker Bilk has passed away aged 85.

His tune " Strangers On The Shore" is one of my all time favourite instrumentals. Was the first ever record to gain Number 1 position in the British & U.S. musical charts simultaneously.

Sad to hear this, but he had a long life and I know he hasn't been well for a little while.

His legacy will live on though.

RIP Acker

That was a lovely composition. I had never heard of the guy.

"Stranger on the shore" was used as the signature tune of a television programme of the same name.
This was the serial story of an au-pair girl arriving to work in Britain.
Possibly- I don't know- that's how the tune came to be given that title.
