Ok I've been authoring, reading, and participating in discussions about the state of the economy and education in the US. Now I have a solution.

First things first...

We need to manufacture goods bought by Americans IN America. This will do a few things. It will increase the value of the dollar in other countries as we circulate more of the money within our own borders. Secondly it will help build the middle class by bringinganufacuring back to the U.S.

Second...

Raise taxes on the rich. (Flame on)Invest the money from taxing the rich back into education and put that money back into the workforce teaching the younger generation the skills they need to further innovate and stimulate growth. That will work in favor of both the middle class as well as the very rich that are taxed in the first place. It will do this by increasing the value of the labor pool and increasing the availability of highly skilled employees creating a better product at lower cost.

Third...

Vote independant and end bipartisan politics. Make every member of congresses pay the medium pay of their constituents.

Ok ATS lets here it...

We don't have enough people in this country to manufacture all of the junk we use. We will still have to import loads of products or reduce the things we use. Good luck with the last one.

Maybe we should just spend the taxes we already collect more wisely. How many examples of wasted spending do we need? The govt would spend every cent of bill gates money in a few days so how will that help. Governments and people tend to live on the amount of money they make. Get a raise and it's spent not saved. Schools are well funded by the standard of the rest of the world, it's just the culture of the students that needs improving.

A strong dollar would make American made products that much more expensive and we'd be undercut even more by cheaper made foreign products.

As far as the middle class? Only if the manufacturers were to pay their employees a decent wage.

Redistribution of wealth with a twist?

A workforce flooded with highly skilled people would actually make them less valuable not more. They wouldn't get the little extra salary kick because their skills would be widely available.

Third...

Vote independant and end bipartisan politics. Make every member of congresses pay the medium pay of their constituents.

I'd like to hear others throughts on this as well

This is a good idea, but it depends what kind of manufacturing you create.

For example. Only 2% of the money garnered from Iphone sales go to the US. Most of it goes to Germany, where the parts are manufactured, then China where they are assembled.

Those would be good manufacturing jobs for the US to have.

Cheap crap like the Chinese manufacture would create a trade war, and the US would loose just based on wages and cost of customer acquisition.

Raise taxes on the rich.

Just role it back to pre-regan tax cuts. Abolish the IRS as is, and come up with fair US Tax Code.

When Hillary Clinton comes out against 'trickle down economics' you know there's an problem.

This.

Also, reverse Citizens United. Make it illegal to have anonymous contributions and pass legislation that creates transparency in this area.

For example, make it so that congress MUST create and update a website every year that shows the total number of dollars given to any congressman or senator by companies and lobbying organizations.

But removing the profit motive from politics is a sure fire way to get the regular people of that country heard.

Our educational system needs an overhaul. Why do we need to be teaching everyone things they will never use after they graduate. We need to redesign it to give more vocational training to fit jobs. We need to put more factory jobs back in this country to supply our people as you said. Training people for the jobs like that can be beneficial, and if they later move on, there should be classes to accommodate their change of profession available. We can't limit our job choices to service oriented professions, we need to make what Americans use. Otherwise we export our money to other countries.

I can't see any national economy surviving the practices we have been doing over the last thirty years, all evidence from the past shows this does not work on a large scale. It can work on a basis the size of one state, but not in a nation the size and population of the USA.

Just for poops and giggles
You can take all of the money of the top ten richest americans and end up with 200 billion dollars.
That doesn't even pay this year's deficit. doubt that will fix our economy.

First, define "rich" and then we'll talk about having more money taken by force from people to give it to a government that can spend faster than the printing presses can operate.

On your third point--- we are in full agreement on the ending of two-party politics. I would ban political parties if I were Queen of the World for a day. The political gang---masquerading as two separate parties---will do anything and everything to keep a third party candidate from the ballot and from public debates and MSM is their able cohort in these endeavors.

Good luck with that.

No. Government run education is a joke. Pumping more money into a failed system is also a joke.

This one I agree with. That would create an incentive for congressmen to try to reinstate the middle class.

No, maybe not...but it would make me feel brilliantly smug.

I like your thread and how you've solved the problems in 3 paragraphs and it took tens of thousands of pages (Obamacare) to fix health care. Well done

I agree 100% about bringing jobs back.

Taxing the rich... do you have some parameters?

I like your 3rd idea also, lets get rid of R & D and force people to look a little deeper.

We need to improve education.

I think we need to seriously consider term limits and get rid of lifetime politicians.

Stop sending so much money overseas, people in this country should be the priority.

Stop getting into stupid wars.

Force all politicians to have webcams in their offices that are on 24x7 so they can be held accountable.

Yeah, that would be better than what we have now. Our owners will never let it happen we are surfs wrapped up in a delusion and if your lucky enough to stumble out of the labyrinth of lies they cut you down. Our money is based on threat of violence so that REAL goods and resources flow into our country and worthless paper flows out. The rich own our tax system and have leveraged it so that no new rich upstarts can upset things and the common citizen is kept focused on the american dream that never comes. They own governments that's "RICH". I'm in California where only the top two parties get on the ballot, I cant even throw my vote away on a third party. Not to mention there are 3 classes in congress staggered so that if we all unite and vote them out they still have a 2/3 majority that gives them the power to amend the constitution, they will see us coming years ahead of time. We are so deeply asleep we dont even realize how late in the game it is.... in the words of private Hudson "GAME OVER MAN"

This doesn't cover everything but it's a start.

[ ]Reinvest tax monies into designs and research that undercuts the grief and agony caused by capitalism and private enterprise and then socialize the necessities of human life.

[ ]Create federal property tax that go towards funding socialist projects that can be largely mitigated if you make energy or sustainable improvements to your home or property.

[ ]End massive incarceration and slavery as a policy towards spillover from economics and instead, use that money to re-invest in communities which have been # on and extracted.

[ ]Legalize drugs and treat them as a medical problem instead of criminal problem to solve crime and war situations.

[ ]Ban all foreign wars and then hydro-frack the backyards of oil execs until proper solutions to energy crisis arrive.

I personally think the system we have in place is far to corrupt to repair.

My solution?

Break the US into 5 different states.

Abolish the Constitution (it's not like anyone was using it anyways)

Have each new state rewrite it's own Constitution.

Move.

What if we impose an import export tariff on certain goods? And I agree to the paying a fair wage part.

The point is not wealth distribution. The point two fold. One incentive the upper class to be involved in the public state and elementary level education rather then just diverting all of their time and resources into private institutions.

And to make them accountable in the process of providing a better future for their workforce.

Oh to the workforce part. The point in incentivizing the wealthy to take part in education is because they know what they need. So their influence in the educational process will automatically help balance the workforce skill set out.

We no longer have the industrial infrastructure in place to manufacture all of our own goods.
Our predatory corporate buisness structure has taken WELL and complete CARE of that.
