I think you hit the nail on the head....she claims it is her house, they say it is their house. It is an old home that originally burned down to the foundation and was rebuilt. We have no idea if anyone was hurt in the fire or not.

Thanks and cheers,

Interesting. Do you know what the foundation is made of? Is it poured concrete or something more resembling cobblestone or brick? Many older structures have stone foundations, and for some reason, stone picks up on and retains far more "energy" than any sort of poured concrete. This is why you always hear people talking about creepy basements in older homes. The stones really can tell tales.

The fact that you mentioned in a previous post that there are physical occurrence happening (bed sheet pulling, things flying off the walls, etc.), I'm inclined to believe that your friend's experiences are more intelligent in nature. If you've ever heard of the stories of the castle ghosts in the UK, Germany, etc., you'll notice that all of these castles are made of some type of stone, which can cause a "recording" effect in time. Any strong emotional event (beheading, murder, etc.) will be imprinted in that stone. These types of hauntings are more "play back" in nature, and doesn't necessarily imply intelligence. Sometimes, Earth-bound spirits can also be trapped by stone foundations, causing an intelligent haunting. That isn't the case in every intelligent haunting, but does add to the intrigue factor.

Another question: Are there any specific smells associated with these events? I only ask because some types of intelligent hauntings will come with a scent of some kind. Thick perfume smells and rotting meat smells are indicative of something more than just a human spirit sticking around for some "fun."

I am a Christian and was married to a priest for thirty years.
I can tell you in all honesty that some people experience things that frighten them in their homes and many times the bishop has asked that we go to some ones property and have a word with the occupants to see what is going on.

Have we ever seen a ghost/apparition or a spirit of some kind ? No we have not but something is scaring these people. many times we have used discernment to see what could be the cause of the problem. if we feel it is an object in the room we will remove and destroy it. two of the most common ones are cupboards full of porn and dream catchers above the bed...It might seem hard to believe but we have never been called back to any house when we have removed items and prayed in the name of Jesus for the spirit to leave.
My advice to any one with a problem to find a priest who has the absolute faith to order the spirit to leave...

Now there are many people who use different methods in dealing with this problem, but being a Christian this is the only way that I know that gets results. I can't comment on other ways that people use..
god bless

Rather depends what type of ghost/spirit you mean.

Some seem to leave spontaneously; poltergeists typically last a few weeks or months (exceptionally, a year or two).

Sort of like a spiritual cold.

In the case of more powerful entities, I am reminded of a moment in a Dracula film I saw back in the 1970s.

Louis Jourdan plays a fine and very evil Dracula.

Van Helsing (Frank Finlay) holds a crucifix up and recites a Latin incantation designed to make Dracula flee.

But instead, he just chuckles and casually remarks, "It always sounds better in Latin, doesn't it?"

Some hauntings continue inexplicably, after many attempts to banish them.

I am coming round to the persuasion that there are incorporeal entites that 'infect' places (and occasionally people) in the same sort of way that corporeal ones do (bacteria, viruses etc).

They possibly affect the way people think and - particularly - feel (mood swings).

And, like the corporeal variety, some spontaneously come and go; some wont go without the right dose of 'antibiotic'.

Then there is the third kind, which are incurable.

According to some theories, ghosts eventually "wear out " if they don't pass on, none of us really knows whether they were ghosts at some point or if they even had a soul to begin with. Bigfoot is becoming more and more linked with the paranormal because of different stories of them having the ability to either shape shift or disappear when cornered. I wouldn't be surprised if Bigfoot was a bad experiment gone wrong and dropped off on this planet at some point and time. I believe there is a Bigfoot, don't know what it is but I don't think you would see their ghosts based on the rough habitat they are generally seen in.

I saw a post someone made on the paranormal group saying they would be interested in a thread about a question I asked on someone else's thread, I did not get a private message seriously, and how do you expect one to feel when you say to the entire world, oh forget the Op, they just post a question and bail. You did not have to say that.

Her foundation is made from rocks or field stone, I think is what they are called. This is in New England and many many years ago they also used them to build walls as fencing on their property.

My fathers house or I should say my childhood home had one of those basements made from gathered field stones and it had a dirt floor and you want to talk about creepy? I don't think there have been any unusual smells but I did smell something around me in my own home for several days and I swear it smelled like urine - gross!

Probably on the wrong part of a forum here but I'd like some people's opinions on some odd things I have experienced in a share house I'm living in.
The first occurrence was about 4 months ago one Sunday morning I went out for a walk and came back to the house, I was home alone. I was just opening a window at the top of the stairs when I heard what sounded like a man growling the word "NOOOO!!" like an angry animal. It sounded demonic and was only a couple of metres behind. I shrugged it off but could not explain it.
One night a fair while later I was cleaning up in the kitchen at night after both housemates had gone out when I started to feel a weird sensation of someone else being there that I couldn't see, watching me. It got to the point where I felt really frightened and uncomfortable at the idea of someone I couldn't see being only a few metres away.
The next odd happening a month or so ago, I was lying in my bed after work reading a mag, broad daylight and one housemate downstairs. All of a sudden out of nowhere, an almighty thump against the wall that my bed head faces and my bed shook. That particular wall is one side of the house on the second storey so nothing could have hit it from the outside. Only explanation for the bang was the bed head hitting the wall very hard. How does a whole double bed just shake on its own and thump against a wall?
The most recent weird things have been in the last few days. I was standing in the kitchen downstairs unpacking groceries (home alone and broad daylight) when I could hear the sound of a plastic cup or something being rattled against something up stairs in the bathroom, on and off. A few seconds later I turned to the sink with my back to the staircase and experienced a sudden split second feeling of dread as if someone was standing literally right behind me. A couple of mins later, one housemate came home and the noise stopped. Later that night he went to work so home alone again. I was eating dinner in the lounge room when I clearly heard the sound of a man clearing his throat from the kitchen area.
Does all this sound like I'm going mad or do I have an unseen "friend" ? I have not said anything to the two guys I live with.

You absolutely can make paranormal phenomenon stop. (I make no claims that 'ghosts' or 'spirits' are behind the phenomenon, only that, for myself, I know that the phenomenon exists). I started out the traditional ways, using sage, sea salts..etc, worked my way up to prayers/mantras to banishing rituals. Now I just laugh it away, the best banisher of all. I never have any trouble with paranormal phenomenon, and I willingly and frequently, and for some years now, evoke and invite some of the worst of the worst into my home. No real issues. Ever.

Because I finally came to the conclusion that if you believe the 'spirit'/'demon' won't go, or is dangerous, it will probably give you trouble. The more power you give to it, the more trouble it will seem to give you. The more you fear it, the more you feed it. Other occultists may and will disagree. Don't care. This sort of stuff is very subjective, and I don't give power or fear away like most people who get wrapped up in the occult and the supernatural. No dogma for me, thanks.

Finally, I've experienced it all in my occult experimentations. From minor stuff like being infested by darting shadows for weeks, to classic poltergeist activity (maniacal knocking, stuff being moved..etc). I was a hardcore skeptic at one time, and I thought people were crazy and there was always a rational explanation. I know better now. I'm not a fool who believes every sound is a 'ghost'. The difference between myself and most other believers is that I'm not convinced the 'spirits' are real entities outside of ourselves, or that 'ghosts' are really dead people. I don't believe in 'evil' either, just that a good deal of this stuff can feel very, very wrong, and can definitely bring up emotions like extreme fear, until you come to the conclusion that I eventually arrived at: that YOU have enough power over your experience to not let it get out of hand. It's your willpower and mastery over yourself that really matters when dealing with this stuff. When superstitious, easily frightened people get involved in this stuff, that's where the problems start and can get hard to deal with.

Yep that right there.

Exactly!! If you are religious: use things your religion says to get rid of them (e.g. if you're Christian, say prayers and sprinkle Holy water)

Depending on who you are you can even bind them to your will.

Ghosts are not major players though, a lot of them are just poor victims, they get harassed by darker entities. They're really nothing to fear unless there's something special going on. They'll be more afraid of a decent practitioner than the practitioner will be afraid of them.

Don't expect them to leave by you telling them though. Some magic would have to be performed. Empower objects and set up an energy perimeter. Easier said than done though.
