Announcing The First Annual ATS Pumpkin Carving Contest

Welcome all ATS members. In response to a request from our membership, we are going to sponsor the The First Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. The rules are fairly simple:

- 3 entries per member
- 1 entry per post
- label the entry with "official entry" if you want it to count in the vote tally
- votes are cast with stars. The most stars wins
- each entry must have included in it the user name written on paper (or some other surface). It must be written on an item that is included in the image, not superimposed over the top of the image using an image editor
- All images must abide by the ATS T&C's Terms and Conditions of Use--Please Review

Prizes:

First Place - 5 Applause
Second Place - 3 Applause
Third Place - 1 Applause

The contest will run through midnight on Halloween night. Once the witching hour strikes on Halloween night, the contest will close to entries. A voting period of 3 days will occur, with winners announced on November 4.

GOOD LUCK to all participants!!!

Dang it, my 4-year-old son and myself just finished the coolest pumpkin last night - I did take a picture but obviously not with my ATS handle included in the picture.

I'll have to try and remember to snap a pic and enter this contest when I get home. Very cool thread idea, good luck pumpkin artists!

Hey BF, taking into account all the stars you are getting at the moment for creating this great thread it looks as if you are going to beat us all hands down without even carving your pumpkin?

Hmmm, this means that I am going to have to try and pinch a pumpkin from my nearest neighbour and get the old sleeves rolled up...

Kindest respects

EEEW......I would rather pluck and clean a turkey than a pumpkin. At least I like to eat turkey.
Oh sorry, this is so off topic.

Maybe we could add a carved Turkey option to the competition?

Or just think of the incredible things you could do with the turkey bones and a pumpkin in order to create a pretty impressive work of art?..

You should average the stars, that way would be more fair to people that makes one hit wonders compared to three peats.

Where do you live that you have never seen a carved pumpkin?

Beauty is in the eye beholder.

I call this "Pumpkin's Last Stand" ...

The best thing? Anyone can achieve this level of accomplishment! Just try...you know you want to.

Peace

Here is my early entry, i will come back and edit in some closeups.

The one on the bottom was made by my step daughter, as you can tell, and the bottom left is modeled after spiderman,.... And I mean the actual man, or spider....man. He modeled for me on a recent trip to L.A. it turns out he spends most of his time on hollywood boulevard and is pretty fair when it comes to compensation.

Cool carving !

I hate those lame characters roaming Hollywood boulevard, wanting your cash for photo opportunities.
Most put in little to no effort ...

Halloween is only a recently celebrated thing in Australia, so I have no carving experience.
Voting here is compulsory however, so I will put that experience to use.

Don't forget to put a piece of paper or something in the picture with your username on it.

Well, since i'm not American and don't celebrate Halloween, i don't have any pumpkins to carve. Here's a quick mock up though.

Official Entry!

I can't believe no one has entered yet.

So my son is four, and a huge fan of the Ghostbusters. We "carved" this pumpkin with the following tools:

A Dremel
A carbide steel-etching bit
A RIGID 18v combo drill
An Exacto Blade
A grapefruit spoon
A picture of the Ghostbusters logo
A Sharpie

Last year we did Curious George, which was equally awesome.

Hope you like it. =]

Great. Carving there my friend, .... It looks like your going to take this contest hands dow................

...... Wait, whats this,

. It appears you used 7 tools ???

Oh no............ Oh my....

I hate to be the one to inform you, but in the official pumpkin carving contest regulations, it states " up to 6 tools can be used to hollow and carve your entry.

It appears you have been disqualified my friend ....... Its quite a shame.

Go ahead and withdraw your entry while you can, and save your loved ones anymore embarrassment.
