It could have been "permitted" before but we would have had legal recourse, though very limited, if they were called out.
Now it is "legal" so all we can do is shut-up and go away.

These two acts make up for the "unlawful search and seizure" part I mentioned.

With the "national security letter" they get to search without your knowledge.
With this new IRS law, they get to seize" what they find.

If you REALLY think that all we can do is shut up and go away, then you need to go back and read a couple of documents, the bill of rights and the declaration of independence, with focus on the second and fourth parts of the bill of rights.
