What Really Pennie to a Dollar !?

Nice Town ! Treating These Senior Citizens like they are dead with no family"s

Talk about Spite!

The following May, the judge found Hoeppner had still not complied and authorized the town to seize assets. In the summer of 2011, the town hauled away several tractors, pallets, equipment and other items and auctioned them off for "pennies on the dollar," according to Lister.

Whoa...

He described deputies with guns drawn walking around his garage. Asked if he was, as the sheriff's captain described him, argumentative, Hoeppner admitted he was probably "hostile," though not threatening when confronted with a writ. "The $86,000 figure is enough to shock most men," he said. "And they wanted it now, today." He said the town later agreed to $6,000 less because it wouldn't have to pay for hauling away his other equipment to sell.

Hoeppner estimates that, in all, his battle with the town has cost him about $200,000, a retirement fund he "worked very hard to accumulate." In addition, he said, his arrest the day the armored truck appeared upset his wife so much, he had to take her to a hospital for a few hours.

This is precisely the reason the police are responding in a more hardcore fashion. People are becoming more and more militant and anti-police.

What the hell do you expect? Tea and roses?

Enforcing the laws of an oppressive government is a dangerous job. As it should be. You should know this before you become a LEO. You do not have the kind of job wherein you can expect your safety to be guaranteed. It does not give you an excuse to scare the bejeezus out of everyone, and it does not give you an excuse to be armed like an occupying force.

I expect law enforcement (if you think we even have to have it in the first place--for another thread) to be men about things, and accept the risk and the enormous responsibilities.

I expect them to act like professionals, not thugs. I expect them to honor the oath they took. If they can't do that, they should do the honorable thing and find another job.

Because it looks like that's all it is to any of them anymore--just a paycheck. They'll do whatever the boss says as long as they can maintain their ever-more-pathetic version of the "American dream", all the while being ignorantly instrumental in it's very destruction.

Wow...this man spent over $200k to try and fight this...then in the end they still clean out what's left, another 80k ? Maybe this man believed no one had a right to tell him what he could store on his property to begin with ! His lawyers clearly did nothing to really help him. He could have had the property cleaned up, built a large storage unit or erected a fence for far less then 280k !! I feel soo very sad for this poor old guy......what a way to spend your golden years.....watching an "army" roll up on your property and make it perfectly clear that everything he ever worked for and The America he once knew is Gone...Shame on this town and everyone who participated in this horror.

I seriously can't belive some of the replies here "well the guy was an ass" and "shoulda paid his bills, no sympathy"
WTF people? Nobody is disputing that his bills needed paying, they're merely saying this was completely OTT and insane for the police to do.

They made him go to the bank and withdraw 80 k ? When someone assets are taken legally within court jurisdiction the person would have his account froze and said currency removed from said account simply with the stroke of a pen by a judge. To drive him to the bank and make him withdrawal that money physically is NOT police procedure, sounds like strong armed robbery. LE operated in totalitarian fashion just to gloat and install fear nationwide. They are saying "look we take whatever we want, we have tanks and you are powerless" Of course they will investigate themselves and find no wrong doing. The police farce will get sued in civil court and the taxpayer will pick up the tab. This sounds like a civil rights violation, but im no expert on the matter.

This is a nation wide event , the ramping up of armored vehicles. The militarization , the excessive force. They are beta testing us. Little by little they deploy this force and a little more to see what the public reaction is. Nobody does anything about it, they ramp up a little more. Jack boot some more people, kill a homeless camper , kill a marine in his bed ect. Nobody pushes back hence it gets worse. Until something gives. When people start having to plant IED's and then we Mercuns will be auto dubbed as insurgents.

Ehem well, we are all ready suspects every one of us hence PRISM

The apologists i believe are suffering from Stockholm syndrome or they are police or related to police imo. Nobody with a sound mind would have this mindset unless they are what i just mentioned. These people are part of the cancer that is killing this nation. They would have followed Hitler and helped him commit infanticide if this were 1943. Scary isn't it ?

Like "well the jews are a financial burden to Germanimerica and our Führer is just doing his job"

Oh those poor cops, having to play on a equal playing field. That must be rough.

For every force, there is an equal and opposite force -- Reaction (physics)

Do you think that maybe, perhaps that people are becoming armed just might be due to reaction ? Reaction to aggression.

Problem > Reaction > Solution -- Diocletian’s Theory

This is a game where LE loses, in the end. It's a numbers game. When a foreign object enters a body the body reacts to this threat. We the people being that body. This is where the immune system comes in to play "mass awareness". Then white blood cells are dispatched to fight the "infection" from spreading. Whereas "innate immunities" will fight the infection at all times that being people like me, activists , whistle blowers , your open carry people ect. The corruption has become this malignant tumor and it needs to be removed. America is sick from it. It needs to recover and heal. Like i said it's a game of numbers, where there is tyranny there is resistance. You support the losers.

What I expect is a bit more balance. You say people are becoming more militant but why is that? Are you saying we despise these jack boot thugs because they are nice people? Out of the blue we have become so cynical and for no reason? You are delusional or on the blue team..

They are the enemy and in reality a bunch of cowards. Case in point is Eric Frein. When it comes down to it they are scared cowards or they would have this guy already. Then we have this situation where armored vehicles are sent to the property of a 75 year old where 20 armed thug criminals draw down on an old man and a little old lady. You can justify your hard core excuse any way you want but when you send 20 criminal thugs against an old man and old lady, you are asking for war and I hope they get it.

Are you smoking crack??? We nor our parents EVER gave them this authority. They usurped it. Now if what you mean to say is that we have done nothing to stop them from usurping that authority, then you would be right, but I would not count on that remaining the case.

I'm disgusted with both sides of this argument. I'm disgusted with the police because they're aggressive and I'm disgusted with civilians because all they do is hate.

Exactly.....

When they say Bills ?

What Bills Ohh You Mean Forced Fines !
Just Because the Town Officials had a Hissey fit ? & Ruin a Man A Retired Man.. of Most of his Earnings
just because of a Clutter on his Own Dam Yard.. that The Town could of Charged him for setting up a High privacy Fence ( blocking the View ) well in my County in Some place's, They just did that .. and No complaint's after that

But A $500.00 a Day from a Ficken Biased Judge !

Usually a Bank does this.. !

This Could of been Solved in a Easier Way... but putting up a Show of Militant power, to intimidate someone
to kneel before them , is way out of hand here More I see this Country is becoming a Police Nation ...

George Orwell aka Allen Bean : Foreseen the Future and it about to become a fact.

The Main Attraction that i See Is, Just the Stacks of Piled Up Pallets

which Happen to be all over here where im from in My County the Biggest One in the Whole State Of New York
As Most People Use them for Building Materials and for Fire Wood other then it Own purpose..

but personally this should go Viral..

I can See the Towns Concern of a Eye Soar.. but if they could of made a Agreement of Putting Up a High Fence to Block the Clutter or Boxed in the Clutter to one Locational Spot on the Property. This could of gone Smoother
But NO! No negotiator involved.. Just take his Belonging's Away to pay for the Fine to Pennies on a Dollar ? Its Just Wrong.. and Police Escort this 75 year old man to a Bank. ? is that Police Procedure??

This should be a Viral Teaching tool to the Whole Nation..

I'd truly like to know when does that part about 'it's a free country' actually kick in?

If I buy land and I'm not actively bothering someone else (being an eyesore doesn't count, because I happen to think that 4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom houses built out of matchsticks and pink fiberglass and particle board are eyesores of epic proportions but their owners are such good little taxpaying sheep), then you should be able to do whatever you want on it, like harvest rainwater, or have chickens, or fix antique tractors. Some hobbies do require keeping a lot of gear on site, obviously and farms especially tend to have a lot of machinery kept on site.

I bet he'd be lots of fun and very educational to talk to. Those old timers are a wealth of information about the days before everything was digitized.

The judge that fined him $500 a day should be sued to within an inch of his bank account. I mean, WTF?

Good Question.

From the report: "...and the town was supposed to open discussions about its zoning."

This DOES resemble military action. Not just the tactics, but the strategy as well. (re: 3 years) What happens when territory is claimed? Boots hit the ground.

The town has plans for the old man's land.

Oh yeah, It all seems fairly legit until you get to the conveniently roadblocked lawyer part... oh and the part about sending SWAT after someone old enough to drop dead at the sight of an APC in their yard, or the fact that Sheriff Depts all across the US routinely (daily) evict people with little to no fanfare or military equipment.

Wisconsin Man Sues Over Armored Vehicle Response

Good. I'll be surprised if he wins, but good. At least he's doing something and not just letting it go. We can no longer afford to allow this to continue unchecked, in whatever ways we find ourselves able to do the checking.

WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) – A Marathon County man is suing the Town of Stettin for $4.5 million after two dozen deputies and an armored vehicle were sent to his home earlier this month.

Seventy-five-year-old Roger Hoeppner is seeking damages for pain, suffering, emotional distress, damage to reputation and economic loss.

Authorities were sent to Hoeppner’s home on Oct. 2 because the family owed $86,000 in a civil judgment.

Marathon County sheriff’s officials defended their response Monday. Deputies say officers knocked on Hoeppner’s door and could hear people inside, but no one answered. Deputies then called in their crews and the armored vehicle.

WSAW-TV reports deputies wanted to protect their officers and to get Hoeppner to cooperate. But Hoeppner’s attorney calls the response excessive.

Hoeppner agreed to pay the debt. No property was seized.

Christ...people are acting like the police demolished the guy's house with a tank! Does it really make any difference what they drove to his house in? And don't give me the "they were trying to intimidate him!" Of course they were, police wear uniforms and carry guns in part for that exact purpose.

Whose to say this man wouldn't have opened fired on the cops? Just because one is of advanced aged doesn't mean they aren't a badass, armed to the teeth lunatic. After all they were there to collect a huge, court ordered debt (let's not get into if that was on the up & up, it is a separate issue.)

"all they needed to do was knock on the old teddy bear's door and ask" ... Well this guy was repeatedly ordered by law to clean up his property (again, if that's unconstitutional is another debate) and he didn't. So they fined him...which he refused to pay. He was effectively saying FU to the law.

...the man reportedly didn’t come out of his home to talk to deputies until the MARV pulled onto his property.

What else were they to do but show they were serious in enforcing the law? I guess ask politely AGAIN, fine him SOME MORE, have ANOTHER lawsuit...etc, etc. Right?

That's not the way it works. If the police know where a criminal is they go get them. These rural guys could stay home for weeks if need be. What if he never left the house/property and his wife ran errands for him? For all we know that's what was happening.

I'd like to see everyone happy with their taxes going up even more because we have to pay police to wait around for the people that need to catch even though they're just sitting at home
