In the range of any distance inside the house, I certainly don't need sights or a laser, to hit my target with the first shot. (nor would I take the
time to bother). Simply going to point, shoot, and hit. Most of the time, you're talking about a matter of less than 20-30 feet. I'm not Annie
Oakley, but at that distance, nobody really needs to be.
Outside, maybe, but I know my property pretty well (so don't need the light), and motion lights are pretty much going to give away an intruder, and
where they are, giving them few places to hide. Plus, if going outside at night to check, I'm usually taking the shotgun with me (and a holdout
pistol). So accuracy is less a factor.
