Emergency crews have been called to the Kelowna Airport and placed on standby. Ambulance, police, fire and airport crews are responding to a a possible emergency involving a WestJet flight that has now landed.. An airport spokesperson confirms a reported incident involving "a specific plane." The plane is parked away from the main terminal according to airport officials. The spokesperson says passengers will be bused back to the main terminal. Meanwhile, luggage and passengers are going through a secondary screening. A dog team is going through passenger bags.
A WestJet flight has landed safely at Kelowna International Airport after what Castanet has been told was a threat to the plane. The plane parked at the far end of the runway away from the terminal where passengers were loaded into buses and transported to the terminal. Luggage is being removed from the plane and collected onto the tarmac. Devon, a passenger on the WestJet flight told Castanet News a bomb sniffing dog is going through everything.
More than two hours after the flight landed safely, CBC's Kelowna reporter Brady Strachan was in the airport lobby when a man was taken into custody. "Two police officers were speaking with a man and then handcuffed that man and led him past me into a secure area behind a door," he said. "About 10 minutes later six or seven officers went into that room." Airport passengers said they spent another two hours inside the plane on the tarmac after it landed, not knowing what was going on. They told CBC News they were moved onto a bus and had to wait on the bus for another hour before being taken to the airport terminal.
