What I think really happened is the Nigerian govt pushed out the western medical assets.
America wants these countries for resources and now there's a foothold with Africom

The Nigerian pres didn't want western help now I'm only waiting to see how long it takes the US to declare Isis in the area or even declare the Nigerian pres a collaborator or a terrorist regime.

Do you have any idea about the history of West Africa? Believe me, there have been plenty of opportunities on the past 25 years to seize those countries. There is no oil there, no other resource matters. Don't feed into the insane conspiracy theories about diamond mines and so forth.

Have you not heard about Boko Haram? Nigeria has had it's Jihadi problems for many years. And oh look, a ceasefire was just declared. Surely we should have boots on the ground already in Nigeria to help find those missing schoolgirls? No? Didn't think so.

As an aside, those schoolgirls are apparently going to be released as part of the Boko Haram ceasefire. Some good news at least.

Nigeria I think had something like 8 cases....so it is not all that impressive that they beat it. The problem is the source isn't being controlled. I'll wager a case or 2 pops back up Nigeria or other countries here and there. Same Sengaol...they didn't have many cases...also the usa, spain etc...these are just little outliers for the time being but if you don't beat it at the source it is gonna keep trickling out. And as for the anti doom porn again...you guys drive me crazy....this is the deadliest strain in the history of all ebola...even if it only kills 10000 people it is a big deal. In all of history ebola has only killed something like 1500 before this outbreak. You have to ask yourself why so many people died this time...is it something with ebola or something with politics over in W Africa. Either way countries have spent billions of dollars already and thousands of lives were lost...to something that shouldn't be a huge threat. To me...that is a big deal. What is to stop a new outbreak in a few years? Is it possible climate change is effecting how much more aggressive ebola is? What you and people like you are so quickly to point is...it is not a big deal...but then only offer that the whole world didn't die that is why.

For me I look and ask "why". why was this outbreak different....does this now mean that future outbreaks are gonna be this rough on the economy? There is more to ebola than just ebola. Look how awful the American government responded...look unprepared hospitals were...ebola has scared the # out of me because it shows the American government is not ready for any kind of pandemic. And this current pandemic is far from beaten at this point. You will see more trickle cases pop up all over...here and there and we will indeed overcome it...but to downplay this outbreak of ebola as nothing is a very bad idea.

by the way i like your avatar haha

It's very good news. Nigeria is like the bird in coal mine. If bordering countries fail to have cases or exponential case loads than the threat is not real.

Why in the world would I want to calm down? I'm not a productive member of society if I'm not frightened by something or another! Quick, give me something else to be afraid of!

(On a more serious note, good on Nigeria.)
