Furanones are chemicals used by seaweed to stop the bacterial surface colonization by blocking signalling mechanisms.
It has now been shown that it prevents Cholera from turning on its disease causing mechanism.
They offer an alternative to irradicating type anti-biotics which are increasingly less effective as bacteria adapt. The furanones don't kill the
bacteria so they don't select out the strains that are resistant.
Good find. The article misses one thing. Once you stop taking the drug, does the cell then revert back to being able to reactivate? If so then you are
simply stalling for time.
The antibiotic issue was caused by two clear items.
1) People never finished thier complete regime.
2) Doctors overperscribing them when they we not needed
