That would be for personnel protection perhaps some snooping clergyman was thinking of prosecuting a witch back then and she only wanted to make sure she wasn't bothered she would use her own. If she wanted someone out of her hair that's bugging her she doesn't need protection she needs the pain in the butt gone. In a case like that she needs the DNA of the person she wishes to be free of. That is if things worked back in the 1600s the same way they do now.
