Finally, America is becoming the nation which holds the self-evident truth that all are created equality and have the right of Life, Liberty, and The Pursuit of Happiness. It took a while but there is more social equality.

It's the LAW not the faith and those who say it is WRONG have clearly VIOLATED that faith if THAT is their reasoning.

You're right. The Law and Faith should have nothing to do with each other. Those of Faith complaining about Law are just as wrong as those who do the same in reverse. The church has every right to do things their way and the Gov. needs to stay out of it. Likewise the Gov. does it's thing without having the Church getting in it's way. That's how it should be.

Religious Marriage is defined as the joining of two people while Civil Marriage is actually the joining of three parties. That third party in Civil Marriage is the State. This is why the State is required in Divorce. It requires that third party to legally break that contract. That is also why when it's through the church and it's their rules, divorce is sometimes not allowed.

The two were never meant to be tied together in Legality. Linking the two creates a problem of who is being placed in authority of that union. God or State. Neither of which is allowed to give way to the other and there is no need to as long as they stay separate.

Cavtrooper:

Aww you wouldn't like me anyway? That's a real shame! I was really looking forward to deep philosophical conversations with you!

I'm afraid you've listened to one too many radio programs.

No one wants to re-educate you.

For my part if I could banish government and religion both I would.

You seem to me to have swallowed the wingnut spiel whole-scale, and I hate that for a veteran because those folks are not working in your best interests.

But we all have to bear the results of our actions.

Captian Prog out.

Russia is depressing. I don't know who treats LGTQ+ worse, Russia, Jamaica or Africa.

Your joking right? at least Unlike in Saudi Arabia or Africa LGTQ are treated fair better in Russia. And the fact that the Russian government allows LGTQ porn sites speaks for itself.

I tried to watch a documentary about the LGBTQ+ people being physically hunted down in Russia. They get abducted off the streets, beat, tortured, peed on and I'm not sure what else because I couldn't keep watching it. I was too disgusted and mad to continue.

Sure you may be able to watch gay porn but I wouldn't want to go out into the streets.

Since Putin changed the views on LGBTQ+ there is now only 1% who openly admit they are gay. Everyone else has gone back into hiding.

ETA: Just found the name of the documentary - HBO Documentaries: Hunted. The war against Gays in Russia. I got maybe 15-20mins in I think.

Russia may not be as bad as Saudi Arabia, Africa or Jamaica but it's not picnic there either. I wouldn't want to live there.

True, but that contract is between you and the state.

State should trump on the issue of marriage.

This isn't really about same sex marriages. It's about making everyone accountable during tax time. I see this progressing into you not being able to file taxes jointly regardless of your sexual preference. This is only my opinion but a logical one. What does everyone else think is behind the agenda? I'm open to all sides.
