I have always been opposed to Obamacare. While in theory, providing healthcare to everyone is a novel idea, I don't believe it's realistic in a capitalistic society. So I finally got around to opening my mail from yesterday and there's a letter from my current provider Humana, outlining any changes to my plan for 2015. My plan isn't a Cadillac plan. It covers me, my wife and 2 boys with an 80/20 plan with unlimited doctor visits at reasonable co-pays. I almost fell over when I saw the premium is going to be raised from $520 a month to $877 a month. That's a 68% increase and in no way is affordable.

I hope those mother f'rs from Humana all get fired and that lying piece of trash Obama and anyone who supported his ACA are all voted out on their asses. So much for if you like your plan you can keep it and so much for the proposed economies of scale reducing premiums. I knew that the ACA wasn't going to end well, I just had no idea it would be this catastrophic financially. All I can hope for is that the right takes over the Senate in a few weeks and do something to get rid of or mitigate this awful legislature..

I can so relate with you
Ours jumped from $467 a month to $690
On top of that we have a $3500 deductible that has to be met BEFORE
THE INSURANCE KICKS IN.....WTH?

We can not afford that....we basically live paycheck to paycheck
All of our co-pays on prescriptions have gone up as well.

We have a very well known company that we go through for medical
Insurance.

Just truly sad that it has come to this
What happens if we really get sick???

Sorry for your problem.

Many warned about this happening.

Are your deductibles higher also?

Deductibles can add up faster than the premium increases.

Thanks Xuenchen.
No, actually the coverages will all remain the same. I had honestly anticipated a 10 to 15% increase, but nothing of this magnitude.

At this point, I don't know what any party can do to 'fix' Obamacare. It was a huge mistake and the tentacles are too many and too long. Many did warn against it but the blinders were on and now they're coming off. What an ugly cluster puck. The thing is, this isn't the apex, it won't come to completion for a couple more years. And some thought ugly couldn't get any uglier. Hmmph.

That sucks. I've been told mine will only go up a "little". But I fear a big whammy at sometime in the future.

Just so glad I can share my pie with others like Michelle said we'd do. [/sarc]

Won't be long before someone comes in here and attempts to invalidate your experience with their political tripe.

All Obamacare ever did was take the failure of the government controlled managed care system of before, fed it steroids, and forced everyone to buy into it by law.

b-b-b-ut...he said if you like your current health plan you can keep it.

Just forgot to mention that it comes with an increase that most can't afford to keep.

Probably just an honest mistake on his part, right?

Peace

Ours went from $448.00 to $928.00 a month. We received a letter stating that it will go up again to $1,014.00 a month. We will be going without insurance, because at this point, my husband is already working two jobs, and I'm working part time and taking care of our baby and I cannot go to full time right now due to her needs. So my husband and I will have to go without. There are only so many hours in a day, and only so many jobs a person can work at once.

S&F for reporting how this affects you personally. I guess you weren't listening to the screams of O-care victims from a year ago -- and I'm not referring to the incredibly dysfunctional website roll-out either.

Just think, we haven't seen the full horror of O-care yet. O-care is not "affordable" for the majority.

Plus employers will be forced to drop medical coverage for most, if not all, of their employees. They cannot offer medical coverage and still keep their doors open.

As I've posted many times here, Obamacare is NOT about improving our healthcare. It's a massive expansion of Federal power and a massive tax hike on the middle classes -- when they're already hurting in this lame economy. Just remember, your O-care premium is a TAX, SCOTUS says so.

He really didn't lie. The OP is proof that if you like your plan you can keep your plan.

If you can afford it.

I have no reason to lie and nothing to gain by it.
I'd be more than happy to scan and post the applicable page...but of course my PDF would probably be subject to your scrutiny though...

Hey AV, It should have been apparent to everyone that this was just another Big Government Tax Scam. It has been The IRS that has been administering this from the beginning, that alone should've given people a clue as to what it was really all about.

That's fine. I can understand your skepticism. I'm sure a lot of people are. I am attaching a scanned copy of the rate page. The only thing I removed was a QR code at the bottom of the page because I'm not sure what data it contains and I'm watching football and too lazy to scan it.

Actually it is ultimately a socialist wealth redistribution plan. Forcing those who can pay to pay more, in essence forced to pay for those who can't or are on subsidized plans. Insurance companies also must provide coverage to those with preexisting conditions, you have to offset those costs as well.

Unfortunately the middle class will ultimately shoulder the majority of this compulsory burden.
