The letter icon, mail icon in upper right, should turn white when you do.

At least it works for me.

Yes, it will turn bright white on the dark theme, or dark black on the light theme. Either way, it lights up indicating there's a new message.

Queries like this highlight the point that the "message alert" service doesn't really advertise itself very well.
People don't notice it, unless they already know about it.

I have to agree. I missed a very important one, and I swear it wasn't lit up the week before, and the message came in on the 4th.

Is it difficult to perhaps get the mail notifier to 'flash' ? ( non trenchcoat style )

Would be a simple way to make it more obvious ...

Just a thought !

In the past there used to be a pop-up telling you that you had a message. Some people complained that it was too intrusive and they didn't want to be bothered by notifications...

You can't keep all of the people happy all of the time, or so they say.

Checking my message box has become part of my daily login routine, seeing that there still is the bug that a new message may appear read, when it isn't and may go by unnoticed. So once I've logged in, I open the messages in a different tab. Takes two seconds. (Or 47 minutes on a 56k dialup
)
