Bif Naked begins B.C. welfare challenge, living on $3 a day for food

Welfare is meant to be a leg up. It is unfortunate to be poor and on Welfare, but if done properly what little assistance the state provides, should not be looked upon as a long term solution and grateful that there is even a safety net. That being said, $610 a month seems like peanuts in a city like Vancouver. Should be higher.

$610 is unrealistic in a lot of places, not just Vancouver. In my small town rent for 1bdrm place is $600 if you are lucky.

Yes you don't need a whole lot to survive but good meals are important, especially if you have children or you have health issues.

I once took a challenge, to live for a month without money or help from anyone. I ate earthworms and plants, and one rabbit, found out I am not a good hunter, You would be surprised how good you feel off of earthworms. Would I do it again, no!!. , But now I know I could survive if I had to.

June bugs aren't too pretty bad. I have stuffed my belly with them. Very similar to Cheetos.
