PBS Frontline 2014 - Ebola Outbreak

This documentary puts things into perspective for me. PBS, not surprisingly, did a great job at conveying the gravity of the situation in West Africa. An uncomfortable quote from this documentary is: Hearing a western Doctor on the front lines saying "$H!t, we're too late"...and complaining that the world and countries with the capabilities to curb the outbreak did not do enough, quick enough. (No kidding) Also, MSF (doctors without borders) have been doing practically everything with what little they have to begin with, as a strong (but unbalanced) effort to curb the outbreak.

Why are we bombing Iraq again?

Is ISIS REALLY that dangerous?

More dangerous than Ebola?

Ebola is so far, quite successful at penetrating borders and "defenses".

For those who didn't watch it. They say there is no cure.

ALSO, they say in the video that this virus can be fought off by the system sometimes IF YOU STAY HYDRATED. Hydrated because you loose a lot of water from the vomiting and diarrhea.

Can be cured with your own immune system if you are smart enough and have access to clean drinking water when you loose a lot of it, I am sure that sleep and eating well won't hurt.

Fear is harder to cure than Ebola.

There is hydration and keeping the immune system healthy. Not much else you can do naturally.
They are also using serum from survivors to try and give people antibodies.
There are unconfirmed reports that HIV drugs helped some people beat the disease.
The ZMaap has apparently helped a few people.

Ebola Zaire has up to 90% fatality rate but this outbreak is closer to 60% so four out of 10 who get it are surviving.

There is a Traditional Man in one of the villages who has buried 21. Some are those who have helped him, yet so far he is still healthy. He claims it is because of the herbs he uses.

Well worth repeating. Maintaining natural chemical balances gives the body its best chance of beating off the virus and recovery.

I wonder if an IV of high dosage vitamin C would help the immune system stay strong during the course of the illness?

I have injection grade Vitamin C and B-shots ready to go...just in case it decides to visit my immune system.

It doesn't get much more frontline than what this elderly man is doing.

If you look for images of the classic "plague doctor", it doesn't seem too different. First they wore single piece thick leather garments and not thin flimsy disposable medical plastic. Then the "beak" of the mask was filled with aromatic and fragrant herbs, mainly to keep away the smell of the decomposing flesh of the living, but those fragrances were composed of oils and lipids that would bind to molecules and prevent a virus from infecting epithelial cells (outer surface cells), and stopping the spread of the pneumonic version of the infection.
