British Troops Back In Iraq To Help Beat IS

The Ministry of Defence has said a "small specialist team" of UK soldiers are in Iraq and working near the front line of the fight between the Islamic State (IS) and Kurdish fighters.

"Britain is not going to get involved in another war in Iraq. We are not going to be putting boots on the ground. We are not going to be sending in British troops."

Cameron, like all politicians, is a compulsive liar.

Now he has the backing of parliament, he can do what he likes when it comes to tackling ISIL, even going into Syria if he has to.

Sure it would be prudent to go back to parliament to get their backing if he feels we need to go into Syria, but I don't think he will.

I'm sure we had a handful of special forces already deployed in Iraq prior to the recall of parliament. The U.S initially sent a handful of military to help train the South Vietnamese and look what happened there.

There's been small groups of SAS observers in the region since... in fact I doubt they even left.

Cameron stated clearly that Britain will be training Fighters...

How else are they supposed to do that without joining them...

Based near the Kurdish capital of Irbil in the north, they are training peshmerga forces in the use of heavy machine guns the UK supplied to them in September.

It is difficult to determine whether or not ISIS is or isn't an actual organic terrorist group, it is too suspicious and coincidental that these groups only tend to make headlines when it benefits the major media, if indeed the major media is accurately reporting events.

I think there is a real difference when talking about a handful of non-combat trainers over an equipped fighting unit aka "boots on the ground".

People are too literal. If the UK sent out a battalion then that would constitute a U-turn.
