While the recent headlines have been on NBC cameraman Ashoka Mukpo arriving in Nebraska to receive treatment for ebola, the rest of the news crew he was working with arrived via a chartered flight in the U.S. last night.

The president of NBC news released this statement:

All were "feeling well and in good health," NBC News President Deborah Turness said in a statement sent to staff members on Tuesday.
“While they are deemed to be at low risk, we have agreed with state and local health authorities that our team will not come to work, and they will stay at home taking their temperatures twice daily and staying in touch with the local health authorities for the remainder of the recommended 21-day period."

Many will disagree, but I believe it is of the utmost importance to continue live reporting from the ebola "hot zones". The only way this epidemic will be brought under control is to stop it in west African countries, and that won't happen without continued international media exposure.

I consider these reporters brave, as are the nurses and doctors, paid and volunteer, who are trying their best to keep this wretched virus from spreading.

The news organizations are trying to minimize risks to their crews. This is how the AP's reporters operate:

The journalists eat all meals in their hotel, and wash their shoes with a mixture of bleach and water when they return from reporting. They don’t take cabs or rides with drivers they don’t know.
The reporters seek to interview people outside of their homes and try not to touch anything or sit down when in neighborhoods affected by the epidemic, Larson said.

To Dr. Snyderman and crew, thanks for your reporting, and I hope you remain symptom free. To NBC news, don't stop reporting from the front lines.

I am glad to see that they are being responsible and entering a self imposed quarantine. The last thing anyone needs is a situation like the nurse in Spain that went on vacation not knowing she was infected.

More crap on crap. I'm not buying any of it. How convenient that the Fed is supposed to go bankrupt this month.

Increasing evidence is pointing to Us/UK funding of Occupy Hong Kong. China and Russia are giving the united states corporation the finger.

We need manufactured fear porn to prevent a revolution in the United States with guiotines set up on Pennsylvania Ave and congress marched out for their treasonous penalties.

Don't believe the hype. The CDC can SMD!

Dear poster. While I understand your positions regarding the U S government, what does that have to do with this thread?
Also, please leave your potty-mouthed comments off-line.

Thanks.

Well, it looks like the state of New Jersey isn't messing around any longer.

State of New Jersey Issues Mandatory Quarantine Order for Dr. Nancy Snyderman and Crew

planetprinceton.com...

The state, CDC, nor local health officials are reporting who violated their isolation, but here is the statement:

“Unfortunately, the NBC crew violated this agreement and so the Department of Health today issued a mandatory quarantine order to ensure that the crew will remain confined until Oct. 22,” the state Health Department told the Associated Press.

This is a secondary source, philadelphia.cbslocal.com...

The crew included the network’s chief medical editor and correspondent, Dr. Nancy Snyderman, who lives in New Jersey.
Snyderman was reporting in Liberia about the Ebola outbreak in West Africa with Ashoka Mukpo, a freelance cameraman who was infected with the disease.
