Wanderer, u need to get out more. I have seen abandoned buildings everywhere. In case u havent noticed, our economy is kinda sucking a bit.

To anyone around the Seattle metro area, you know what I mean. Drive up and down Pac Highway. Go out to Kent and Auburn, to Renton. Abandoned buildings everwhere.

California, same thing. Am,erica is full of abandoned buildings. Lets not forget economic disater areas like Detroit, Chicago, ect.

Ive been in UK about 3 weeks. Not terribly long, but Ive been to a few towns. Not nearly as many abandoned buuldings and nasty cruddy areas as back in the states. Here, they cant afford to leave dead space, because theres hardly any room for anything.

Sure, Europe is sickeingly socialist. The Tax burdens people face here are a nightmare. Thier lives are intruded on more, cameras everywhere, and a snooty govornment who makes the mistake of intellectuals and think thier utopian visions outweigh individual desires and such.

But, the average European worker is alot better cared for, alot less stressed, better paid, healthier, and generally, better off than an American worker in the same job. So, despite the insideous socialism, Europe is happy as is.

Besides, in the end, Europe is different from the US. They need socialism here. When you have millions of people living on top of each other in crammed, crowded countries with no room to grow, you need a certain amount of order. What works well in the US would be disater in Europe.
