It's like when my parents told me Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny were all lies, but Jesus is real......Trust us!

Oh, well now I'm convinced.

But you're exactly right about how he tears apart the NT.
And if believing Christ didn't exist was viable he wouldn't stop there.
Oh wait his meal ticket tooth fairy and then some more childisn displays
of hate. Get over it Windword or get nowhere.

BS! Bart Ehrman is so disingenuous when it comes to his defense of a historic Jesus! He's way too emotionally attached to people buying into his every word. He's got nothing but personal insults when asked to back up his rhetoric with facts. He's got nothing but the Bible, which he's torn apart.

Richard Carrier makes much more sense, and gives a Bart a run for his money!

Here's his credentials....

born December 1, 1969) is a historian, atheist activist, author, public speaker, and blogger. He has a doctorate in ancient history from Columbia University where his thesis was on the history of science in ancient antiquity. He is a leading proponent of the Christ myth theory.[2]

LMAO

If Erhman is protecting a meal ticket, this
guy is dumpster diving for scraps.

Jesus Christ is a myth. Why are you laughing your ass off? Do you think it's funny that millions of people are believing myths to be facts?

No you believe in a comfortable lie driven by a psychosis determined
to manipulate the world around you. But the world is what it is and you'll
soon be dead. And you tell yourself everyone else is delusional. I hope
you never gravitate to a place of any power. The point is the truth
lives forever and lies die with those who tell them best.

Raised the dead.....myth
Died on the cross...myth
Died for the sins of mankind....myth
Rose from the Dead....myth

Do you know who Bart Erhman is?
Bart is one of the leading scholars in his field. He edited over 20 books
and three college text books. He's a Professor of religious studies and
a former Christian turned agnostic. Authored a few bestsellers on the
subject. And you can bet, that if what you think about Jesus was correct?
He would know about it first and would most likely be your source. He's
not in anyway biased like that zietgiest crap mysticism you seem to gravitate
towards. You're a victim of people who take advantage of the distance time
has put between us and Christ. Wishful thinking for some with reason.
But that's really just them bullsh#ting themselves in the first place.
No one has any reason to fear Christ.

I certainly didn't mean to waste any of precious time that you were already
wasting anyway. Being on this site isn't exactly productive unless you learn
something right?

Randy, if what your are saying about Ehrman is true then please post here the evidence he talks about, as he never mentioned it in that video and I haven't read his book... second time I ask...

Born from a virgin....myth

word means young, unmarried woman, not virgin

Walked on water....myth

He was a carpenter, probably built a boat or a bridge

Changed water to wine...myth

Explained water as wine.

Raised the dead.....myth

Woke up people who were unconscious

Died on the cross...myth

Jesus was only unconscious, «gave up his breath», soldiers thought he was dead.

Died for the sins of mankind....myth

He never did that and was never supposed to do that.

Rose from the Dead....myth

Again, he didn't die on the cross.

The son of God....myth

When Moses calls his seventy elders, he calls them the sons of God in effect of being the government of young Israel. Jesus was the king, «the son of God». Word for king and angel in Hebrew is near identical.

Really existed....myth

Nope, plenty evidence.

But that's not the Christian tradition. The Christian tradition insists that Mary was a virgin and that Jesus was conceived miraculously.

Walked on water....myth

Again, that's not the biblical narrative. Noah built a boat.

Changed water to wine...myth

Explained water as wine.

There are many creative explainations for "water to wine."

Raised the dead.....myth

Woke up people who were unconscious

I think there might be some truth to that, but that's what "Christ Consciousness" is all about. Too bad Christians don't acknowledge that.

Died on the cross...myth

Jesus was only unconscious, «gave up his breath», soldiers thought he was dead.

If the story is taken literally, that's the only explanation that can be accepted.

Died for the sins of mankind....myth

He never did that and was never supposed to do that.

Agreed.

There's a lot of scripture that promoted the idea that "we" are all children of God, Sons and Daughters of God.

Really existed....myth

Nope, plenty evidence.

Only if you qualify every miracle and exceptional claim, then perhaps we can say that there was a very normal and unexceptional person named Jesus that lived in the 1st century. In fact, Josephus mentions 19 of them! '

Honestly I believe that Jesus was called Isai bar David and that his Roman name was Jesus Caesar. I think he was the son of Caesarion (old Joseph, son of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra Ptolomy). Caesars were personifications of Mars (Joseph died, daddy is in heaven) and ruled the known world (he's got the whole world in his hands). And there is plenty more that slides into lock position when seeing Joseph as Caesarion. It all makes sense.

Take the story about Jesus commanding the Legion demon for instance, and all of the legionaries storm into certain death for him. You can't do that unless you are Caesar. Soldiers loved him. Even when his friend cut off a soldier's ear, the soldiers let him be. A centurion risks his own life by saving Jesus from dying and being cremated in Gehenna....

Anyone read anything by Albert Schweitzer? I have two of his books, though I haven't read any of them. He does seem to pop up here and there and made quite an impact on the 20th century. He said the following:

en.wikipedia.org...

The Jesus of Nazareth who came forward publicly as the Messiah, who preached the ethics of the kingdom of God, who founded the kingdom of heaven upon earth and died to give his work its final consecration never existed. He is a figure designed by rationalism, endowed with life by liberalism, and clothed by modern theology in a historical garb. This image has not been destroyed from outside; it has fallen to pieces ...

Yet, even he would never have questioned Jesus ever existing. It is the modern concept of Christ the Son of God Jesus from Nazareth who died for mankind he proves false. In his «Quest for the historical Jesus» ...

en.wikipedia.org...

Schweitzer concludes that the 1st-century theology, originating in the lifetimes of those who first followed Jesus, is totally incompatible with modern Christian belief.

....soooo many books....

What the actual hell are you on?
Fantasy land..... Pot, meet kettle.

You literally believe (I'm guessing) the Bible version of Jesus and you believe that God has an individual tailored plan for you and is guiding your life and watchin over you and that Jesus died to form a new and ever lasting covenant in which you can all go to heaven and live in peace and utopia if you just say some magic words and recite some hymns and spells and give praise to a being who is outside time and space and who created everything in 7 days.

I however, don't know where we came from.... don't know if there is anything after we die and will be pleasantly surprised if there is.
Religion is poison and is the reason for almost all of the problems and wars and craziness on the planet.

I have spouted no made up crap.... FACTS are facts and there is literally minimal to zero evidence for the Jesus portrayed in the bible. Most of the books were written centuries after and then a bunch of crap added and forged etc to confirm and expand the myth. Jesus was Sooooooo important that literally NOBODY.... actually NOBODY who lived at the time time he was alive bothered to write about it or document it in any way.

believe what you want man, more power to you.
beliefs are very personal things and everyone is free to believe whatever they wish.... but do not claim it as fact, do not state that these tales and legends and stories and parables are stone cold facts.

They are simply not.

Not much to offer from him either.

Albert Schweitzer (14 January 1875 – 4 September 1965) was a French theologian, organist, philosopher, physician, and medical missionary in Africa, also known for his historical work on Jesus. He was born in the province of Alsace-Lorraine, at that time part of the German Empire, though he considered himself French[citation needed] and wrote mostly in French.

Don't come at me as if Jesus is a religion when religion he
clearly took a stand against. And yes I damn well do believe in Christ.
Because we are here on this blue earth, amongst billions of galaxies
and it just happens to be on the only planet we know about, that can sustain
us perfectly and has continued to do so. The mathmatics of that by itself
can't even be fathomed so what's a freaking miracle?
