Jobless Rate in U.S. Falls Below 6% as Hiring Picks Up

If only there was something we could do about un-American aholes like Mitt Romney who continues to dismantle American companies and shipping those jobs to factories in China, we might still have some sort of economy. I guess people like him aren't happy until everyone is working for minimum wage at McDonalds.

Ya know, so much of recovery or its opposite is psychological. In reading through this thread, it almost seems one could get the perception that people don't want the economy to improve for whatever reasons.

Maybe because then they might have to cop to something or would have one less thing to blame someone else for. Just saying. Why not just take some happy news for a change and deal with the leftover bad (lower wages and so on) after that?

Ya have to start somewhere. Unite to fight for higher wages, maybe, or take the positive and go from there. Couldn't hurt.

Because it's not good news, the labor participation rate literally hit the lowest point it's hit in 36 years at the same time they made this announcement. This news that things are getting better are a lie.

i blame obama. if a republican were in the white house there would be 0 unemployment.

The more accurate number is probably more like 15 - 20% unemployment because regular unemployment doesn't count those who no longer are looking for a job.

And that number never seems newsworthy. But, the financial and stock markets do tend to react adversely to bad news.

The new hidden category ... The perpetually unemployed.
