An American freelance cameraman working for NBC News in Liberia has tested positive for Ebola and will be flown back to the United States for treatment.

The infected freelancer was hired Tuesday to be a second cameraman for NBC News Chief Medical Editor and Correspondent Dr. Nancy Snyderman. Snyderman is with three other NBC News employees on assignment in Monrovia, reporting on the Ebola outbreak.

Dang.

It's getting more serious by the hour. Utah, Hawaii, Kentucky - all have possible cases. Maybe even Alabama. Now this guy.

My biggest concern is what are the implications of this? Does it mean it is more likely to be airborne? Or is just everything over there contaminated? How did he get it? What does this mean for the 3000 troops headed over there?

I've been worried about this happening since seeing the first news crew over there covering the situation. I don't think I would have taken that assignment.

Well, CNN's Medical Correspondent Elizabeth Cohen said that the intake back to the U.S. by Customs at the airport was atrocious. The guy only discussed Ebola after she mentioned it first and then he had to go re-read a memo to know what to do.
They did not even check her other two crew members who came back with her.

Agreed. And so do others. Like a former Transportation Official for the Feds:

Well you could argue that we are being lied to and maybe these particular journalists want to get us the truth...in that case it is noble what they are doing.

Anyone who goes there to help is quite amazing. I know some of you wont get it...probably the same people who wouldn't ever think of joining the military either.

If ebola was spread all over the usa and we couldn't contain it id assume you'd be thankful for the help.

edit: however..anyone who goes...can't complain if they get it

Dr. Freaky at the CDC said we are all connected by the air we breathe. A loaded statement, imo.

Nothing wrong with helping but an over abundance of precautions should be taken for the world's most lethal pathogen. Like quarantining in country for 21 days before coming back to the U.S.
Just a thought.

At which point is a pandemic declared?

He should've chosen his words more carefully.

Or maybe he did?

LOL! I am absolutely going to start calling him that.

As for the rest:

It's honestly horrifying.

I'm starting to feel ill with shock and worry.

I just got a notification about this on my phone.

It's definitely alarming, I'll be praying for him and his family.

With every infection, we take one step closer to a mutation that could bring us to our knees.

Now may be the time to start making a survival plan.

That makes too much sense.

Our governments aren't known for that sort of thing.

Social Media is our only way to force Dr. Freaky and his ilk be accountable. I was a little surprised to see CNN asking hard questions today. I was surprised to see the pressure washing video discussed by Wolf Blitzer and Sanjay Gupta. It's good that they are reporting about the conditions of Patient Zero's partner.

We have seen sports stars toppled by social media. Any freak can topple just as easily if they are withholding the truth or if they've dropped one too many balls. Once TMZ gets on the Ebola train, it will hopefully inform the Stepford people--you know, the types who are cozy with local and state politicians.

But we, on ATS, have a voice, and it is louder than we know. We need to keep banging the drums.

You know the more I read about how the lack of control when it comes to allowing people infected into the country one thing keeps popping in my head, either ebola here in the US is not as deadly, or the agenda for population control is in full gear

I thought the US sent all the ebola medicine over that way? Why are they flying him back here then?

I believe if the disease reaches a high enough level in the
chain of command: Like the Speaker of the House or the
Senate Majority Leader.
However I also believe the goddess on top of the Capitol
dome will slide off, cartwheel inside and pole dance on a
fascia before either of those gentlemen get a temperature.

I also wonder what level you have to be in order for it to
be called an assassination instead of just mundane murder.

This thing's been out of control for a long time, because it's
supposed to be. Not only is FDR's banal truth about 'no
coincidences' glaringly apparent, the doctors for all the
government agencies are doing everything but pulling out
the brooms for this giant sliding rock to bust the whole US.
