(Mods I searched around and didn't see this, but if it is a duplicate please do your thing)

The NLBS thread #8 covered the latest Republican ad campaign, Republicans are People, too, showing how the ad used stock photos to show "real Republicans".
A bit of a PR fail.

Well, the campaign's associated twitter hashtag, #IAmARepublican is a spectacularly epic and hilarious fail.

This thedailybanter.com... article highlights a few funny tweets:

#iamarepublican because I believe in personal responsibility. Which is why I blame Obama, liberals, blacks, and feminists for everything.
— Fatty McElbows (@FattyMcElbows) September 30, 2014

#IAmARepublican because I just gave birth to a new baby corporation and he already has the right to vote.
— Theseus Wrex (@TheseusWrex) September 29, 2014

Maybe the Republican party should just abandon the whole social media thing and stick to AM radio to get their message out?

Add your own #IAmARepublican

And add to that, this lame attempt to attract younger women to the gop....

I think the old geezers that are obviously in charge of the Republican public relations/media dept. should retire. I don't think they have noticed that it's not 1950 anymore. It's really embarrassing but I'm sure they think it's so hip....

The concept of opposites is nothing but an illusion

It's all just as fake as pro-wrestling.

Just like pro-wrestling, all it does is distract us from the real forces that are tearing society apart.

Would-be global rulers cannot physically control six and a half billion humans. Therefore, they must use secrecy and deceit. Keep the human herd ignorant and fighting with each other. Divide and conquer – it’s the oldest tactic in the book. And it’s relatively easy if you control the major academic institutions, the political parties and the major mass media (a mere five multinational corporations with interlocking directorships today control everything we see and hear. Jim Marrs

www.examiner.com...

For far too long, Americans have been told they exist only as members of warring camps—as Republican or Democrat, red state or blue, conservative or liberal, right or left, religious or secular, urban or rural, majority, minority and even minority/majority. It’s no coincidence that we are described by these labels—as if these labels defined us—by elites who alone stand to benefit from the very divisions they promote.

If they can convince the rest of us that we are at each other’s throats, on the verge of civil strife, these elites can make us believe our own neighbors are our enemies and that we have nothing in common but our hatred of each other.

By herding us into these warring camps, by pitting us against one another, these elites can also distract us from the real forces tearing this society apart—the unaccountable, irresponsible political establishment that now presumes to govern in our name, with no concern for anything but its own interests. By sowing these seeds of distrust, they divide and conquer, and for too long, they have succeeded.

Break the Left vs. Right Paradigm

Dr. Sutton believes the "left" versus "right" split is fraudulent and used to control the debate and condition citizens to think along certain lines. Left-wing magazines like the "The Nation" and "The New Republic" and right-wing magazines like "The National Review were "artificially set up." The former were financed by Whitney money while the latter by Buckley. Both are "The Order."

Dr. Sutton states: "Sooner or later people will wake up. First we have to dump the trap of right and left. This is a Hegelian trap to divide and control. The battle is not between right and left; it is between us and them." Similarly, in the international field left and right political structures are artificially constructed and collapsed in the drive for one-world synthesis, i.e. authoritarian socialism controlled by monopoly capital. College textbooks present war and revolution as accidental results of conflicting forces. This is nonsense, says Dr. Sutton. They are created and financed by Wall Street to create a new world order. But you won't read this in history books.

THE BATTLE IS NOT BETWEEN LEFT AND RIGHT

Ugh, that Rick Scott ad is so awful. It does seem like the people behind these campaigns are stuck in a bygone era.
Looking at the photo and tweets of the mastermind behind these latest ads, it's evident he is just middle-aged and out-of-touch.

Are you inferring that there aren't any stupid liberals in social media? There are, they're just tolerated by numbskulls, and accepted because of their "good intentions" and "feel good messages" that have no basis in reality.

It's funny that the only way liberal fantasies can exist, is within the bubble of strong conservative society. Think hippies in north korea.

Peace, love, only doing things because they're "fun" and "feel good" aren't possible if you don't have someone doing the dirty work for you.

Nope. I'm not inferring anything.
I'm stating that Republican marketing teams might want to study up on what works and what doesn't before they start launching social media campaigns. Their latest products aren't working.

The twitter responses are amusing.

Fair point...

I'm sure that many young people will see the ad's and think 'hey this is the political party for me' but those tweets won't be as fun.

Can't wait for the awful super-liberal ads to run, I can't stand those either.

God forbid candidates make researching their specific platform easy, just post some soundbites, appeal to your base and hope for the best seems to be the modern way of getting elected.

People seem to be joking on #IAmARepublican.

#IAmARepublican because I want all Hispanics deported except my Nanny,my gardener, my roofer, my cook, etc. You know send back all the rest

“@zachdietsch: #IAmARepublican because it's unfair for poor people to take handouts like I've been taking from my rich parents since birth.”

#IAmARepublican because unborn babies should have a chance at life, until they are born, then they better not need the government for #

Pretty funny!

Well, at least for me. :p

Yeah because as we all know, all Democrats are young and cool.

Dianne Feinstein is pretty much synonymous with cool:

She got dat Feinstein swagger.

/Sarcasm. If people are voting based on who is the coolest politician, we are truly screwed.

I'm sure Republicans are also warm blooded mammals

Funny - are they trying to convince us they're human?

Putting up a Republican field guide and all...I'll be first in line to sign up for the Christmas count :-)

Almost sounds like they're feeling a little sorry for themselves. How did that happen?

I used to be a Republican amigo. I was a member of the GOP for 25 years but left when the Right Wing Theocratic Christians took over the party.

I'm now a proud libertarian and worked for Gov. Gary J.

I understand political views of all parties.

I haven't let ideology get in the way of my common sense, like you apparently have.... but don't feel alone because these lame attempts at political hucksterism doesn't show that the republican party understand much of anything.

Liberal Republicans? Hell, there aren't even very many liberal Democrats.

Most of the representatives are die-hard fascists that want to use our government to please corporate and political interests.

I hate the fact that the word liberal has become so demonized when they are, in fact, only one step left of libertarians. It's ok to be liberal.

The add is an epic win , because it keeps people distracted from real issues and thinking that there is a difference between republicans and democrats.

The intention of poiltical ads is to keep the majority disgtracted and focused on the two party system. As long as people THINK one side is better than the other or they continue to blame the OTHER side for issues in this country, than they are WINNING.

By the looks of it , I assume you think your party has the solution, right?Or is your party the lesser evil.

I have a better idea-ban ALL politicians from engaging in social media.

The only time politicians use social media is when they need to sway first time voters or undecided voters-but if you sift through the tweets and selfies all you'll find are weak reforms and policies.

The spin doctors that came up with these PR stunts should be applauded-or condemned. I could go either way.
