Dallas Ebola patient came in contact with 80 people, including children

Regarding these reported cases of Ebola outside of Africa, all I am hearing about is America.

Right there in that part of the world that certainly suggests a major contamination protocol should be executed.

Using the CDC's own worst case scenario projections, 1.4 million by January and doubling every 20-30 days it would be a billion infected inside of 10 months and 3 billion inside of 13 months. There would be a peak where the numbers would start to go backwards until it was burned out, but nobody has a projection for that scenario yet.

The Texas Department of State Health Services has temporarily widened its examination net from 80 to 100 people who may have had even slight contact with the Ebola patient.

"We are working from a list of about 100 potential or possible contacts and will soon have an official contact tracing number that will be lower," Texas Department of State Health Services spokeswoman Carrie Williams said. "The number will drop as we focus in on those whose contact may represent a potential risk of infection."​

My thoughts exactly. We've been hearing for months that the US is fully prepared to contain this, yet the very first case on our soil is already a threat because protocols were not followed.

Did anyone else catch the article the other day that the ambulance he arrived in remained in use for 2 days before being quarantined? The most troubling part to me is how low the infection does is for ebola. From the MSDS sheet:

Compared that to influenza:

A single HID (human infectious dose) of influenza virus might be between 100 and 1,000 particles. At least during the early course of influenza infection, the virus can be found also in the blood and in other body fluids.

There's never been a documented case of transmission by air, so unless he's spitting on everyone, or playing with vomit there is very little risk.

I won't criticise for a spot of dark humor, I'm guilty of that quite often, but if it's just "playing in vomit" then there must be an awful lot of "vomit play" in Africa right now.

It's been widely reported that many drugs have been found in tap water.

A vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans, an Associated Press investigation shows.

DALLAS — Health officials in Texas said Thursday that they had reached out to as many as 100 people who may have had contact — either directly or indirectly — with a Liberian man sick with the Ebola virus while he was contagious.

Of those people, only a handful have been isolated, including family members and the medical technicians who rushed the patient, Thomas E. Duncan, to the hospital on Sunday. Most on the list are there simply because they had contact with people who had had contact with Mr. Duncan.

A spokeswoman for the Dallas County health and human services department, Erikka Neroes, said the initial list of 12 to 18 people thought to have direct contact with Mr. Duncan had been expanded to people who had either direct or secondary contact.

The conditioning to accept this thing has been out there for ages. The Strain and Contagion of recent have been adding fuel to the paranoid fire. The Strain concludes next week - imagine that! Outbreak comes to mind as well, but that was a 90s Dustin Hoffman tour de force so most people didn't take "are you trying to seduce me mrs. robinson" to heart. If people think this just "happened", they need to check the Tuskeegee Experiment, and look at the protocols behind the AIDS drugs in the 1960s first. We had a round of thunderstorms come through this afternoon in DFW. That stopped the ebola news steam for all of an hour and then back to it.
Up to 100 people. Yesterday it was 12-18. Just Wow. He showed up at the ER and they sent him home. Double Wow. One of the kids went to his Dallas Middle School today despite officials telling the people to all stay home. And the school officials did not immediately catch this and send him away. Triple Wow. This ain't good, no way no how.

I've said it all on the threads of Ebola on ATS until its a broken record...ITS BEEN HERE. This is a manmade thing, and it just didn't get to the states. Whatever they tell us they knew damn well its been here at least a year, and for scrupulous reasons they are now "covering all bases" having outbreaks in "odd places" across North America. Think Of timing versus release of information! Look back at the history of AIDS. AIDS was first shown in the Vietnam war. Look at Agent Orange syndrome symptoms and look at 1970s AIDS symptoms. Do some research on it. Strain Type #1 AIDS was killing white boys as early as 1978 (after contagion was spread through Hepatitis B shots in NYC and San Francisco).
